OK,
#
I searched quickly across the forum to see if this is already covered but nothing jumped out at me so here goes....

I want my Kitchen light to come on automatically if after dusk and I enter through the door. Sounds easy enough in principle, but how do people set this up and can it just be don't with door sensor or does it need PIR as well?

Thing that is bugging me is how do you distinguish between someone turning off the lights just before they exit and the automation turning it back on as you exit, versus the light already being off and someone enters from outside.

Help......

Julian

Turn on light only if the door and PIR get detected in the correct order, ie Door first then PIR

Like door start timer for 10 second
PIR on- response check timer, if timer is on, switch light on

Thanks, you've answered then; I do need a PIR too in the solution.

Thanks

Julian

I have this set up on my two bathrooms. The door activates the light and starts a 1 min timer. The PIR stops the timer if it goes off and the door is closed.

I installed automatic door closers (the 15 euro hidden internal spring/chain ones) so the door is never left open,so if the pir is activated and the door is closed, the room is definately occupied.
