I am installing a sliding gate that uses a standard controller which can drive a remote led (wired) to indicate status.

It is documented on the product that led will indicate the following conditions;

Slow regular flash----------------Gate is opening
Quick regular flash---------------Gate is closing
Off-------------------------------Gate closed
On-------------------------------Gate open
1 Flash/2 seconds----------------Courtesy Light switched on
2 Flashes/2 seconds--------------Mains/power Failure
3 Flashes/2 seconds--------------Backup battery Low
4 Flashes/2 seconds--------------Gate collision detected.

Is there a way that I can get my Comfort panel to announce the above conditions?

You may be able to just indicate open or closed based on the status of the LED, but not all the quick./slow flashes
However you cannot connect the LED points directly to Comfort inputs. You wil have to study the driving circuit and to design an interfacing circuit to provide an open/close contact to Comforts inputs.
It is not a task I would really recommend
