Hi,

I have comfort firmware 5.211 and UCM/Ethernet 5.212 and UCM/CBUS 5.208.

I was waiting for the latest version of Comfort firmware which allows UCM or Comfort firmware updates direct from Comfigurator.  I was hoping therefore not to need to have to get hold of another UCM, however it seems I will still need one to do the initial upgrade to get the UCM to version 6.008.

Are the following steps correct-

1. Upgrade Comfort firmware to 6.005 using the programming cable from the existing UCM Ethernet 5.212.

2. Obtain a 2nd UCM to update the firmware of UCM Ethernet from 5.212 to 6.008

3. Future firmware upgrades can then be done direct from Comfigurator to either Comfort or UCM with no cable or 2nd UCM required.

Questions

1. Is above correct, or is there another way without needing a 2nd UCM?

2. Once the updates are done, can you therefore in future update the Comfort and/or UCM firmware remotely from an internet connection, without having to open the comfort system?

Thanks

Yes you will still need to upgrade your Comfort and UCM firmware 1 last time using the programming cable
Once the firmware is 6.xxx, you can upgrade the UCM/Ethernet by direct connect, and the UCM/CBus and Comfort via the Coomfort Bus, using Comfigurator 3.3.1 or above
The procedures are at http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/2409.html

With a UCM/Ethernet and a port forwarding router configuration you will be able to upgrade the firmware from the Internet. However as protection you will have to press F0 on the keypad to allow firmare upgrade

I am sure someone will be able to help you upgrade your  UCM

I think you are in South Africa?
It may be a bit far for Home to post
Have your contacted to RSA distributor/

Vandia Grove

Contact: Brad Snaith

Which UCM do you have?
Only UCm with firmware 5.100 and above can be used to upgrade other firmware
If you have older firmware, then you may need another UCM

If you have  the old model UCM01 then you cannot use this to upgrade and it also cannot be upgraded

Your UCM should look like these

Hi,

Thank you for the response.

I have the following UCM (Type 10) ver 6.012. This one is fine, I also have the following to be upgraded.

UCM (CBUS) - Ver 5.132
UCM (GSM) - Ver 5.133
Comfort II Ultra motherboard - Ver 5.183

I have tried the contact you have given, but no response yet.

Thank you

The UCM programming cable  should be supplied with every UCM
Perhaps it is still in the box?

You can upgrade your UCM to version 7 without the UCM programming cable, see
http://www.comfortforums.com/forum20/3543.html

But you need the programming cable to upgrade your 2 UCMs and Comfort. After that you do not need the programming cable to upgrade firmware again

Hi,

Thank you. I have not received such a cable when the install was done and the installer cannot help me. That is why I am enquiring if one can buy this cable separately.

Is it possible to order this directly from the manufacturer?

Thank you

Danie de Bruin

Hi,

I have a UCM/CBUS 5.132 and trying to upgrade the firmware to 6.011. I am doing this using an upgrade cable, but continue to get an upgrade error.

Is there perhaps a known problem with this specific version (5.132) of CBUS/UCM.

Are there other options perhaps?

Thank you

Danie de Bruin

What is the upgrade error message? "DUT is not connected" ?
If so, did you shunt the PP2 pins on the UCM/Cbus?
The PP2 (2-pin header) needs to be shunted during the firmware upgrade.
