Writing to Comfort
When you have a program configuration to write to Comfort, go to the Transfer Menu

Write (PC > Comfort) will write the configuration to Comfort.
Before doing that, you should have set the UCM Connection Settings as described in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3398.html
The status bar at the bottom will show the UCM connection, in this example, Internet (Local) IP address 10.0.0.24 Port 1001. If this is the correct address setting, then you can go ahead to write to Comfort.

The dialog box will appear;

Normally, check Set Date and Time and uncheck "Write User Codes"

Enter your user code (default 1234) in the popup window.

Comfigurator starts writing to Comfort as shown below

This normally takes less than a minute.
When completed, Comfort resets automatically and the keypads will announce "Security Off"

You should save the configuration periodically using File Save. The file is saved as a cclx file, and can be loaded into Comfigurator.

Write Selective
Instead of doing a full write to Comfort, it is possible to do Selective Write to write only the changes that you have made since the last write to Comfort.

Go to Transfer Menu > Write Selective ..
The window "Select Items to Transfer" opens up and the changed items tare shown in RED which checks in the boxes. You can choose to select more boxes if desired.

Press OK to start the selective write. After this, Comfort may or may not be reset depending on what is written. If reset happens you will hear "Security Off" on the keypads

Reading from Comfort

To read a file from Comfort into Comfigurator, go to Transfer Menu  > Read (Comfort > PC)

A message wiill pop up

This means that reading from Comfort does not include some descriptive information like Response names which may make it more difficult to figure out what the Responses were meant to do. This is to be done when the original cclx file is lost or to verify that Comfort has been programmed in a certain way.
Select YES to continue. A screen appears below

"Keep the names from the current configuration" means the names and descriptions  are taken from the current configuration in Comfigurator

"Auto-generate names and Response Descriptions" means Comfigurator will generate names and descriptions from the information that it reads so as to help to identify the purpose of Responses. This is the preferred option especially when you do not have the original cclx file.

See more about the Autogenerate  option here;
http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=2470&forum_id=92

This will cause a progress bar to appear to show the progress of the read. Reading takes longer than writing, typically a few minutes.

You can save the configuration as a cclx file using File > Save or File > Save As..

Selective Read
It is also possible to read selected items from Comfort instead of the whole configuration. This is much faster than a complete Read and may take a few seconds.
Go to Transfer > Read Selective..
and select the items to read from the window simillar to Selective Write

This should be done for information only on cerain programmed items.  A full Read is recommended when you want to read the confiuration for the purpose of reprogramming the system

When the program for Comfort has been tested, it is  possible to save the programmed configuration in the UCM by pressing and holding the UPLOAD Button

If the program is later messed up to to programming errors, the saved configuration can also be restored into Comfort by pressing and holding the DOWNLOAD button

This is similar to defaulting a system back to a last known good state

This is especially useful if the cclx file cannot be found

See the forum topic  "Upload and Download Buttons on UCM" at http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/3419.html

Write User Codes

The option for "Write User Codes" in Configuration > Modules and Settings when unchecked will prevent Comfigurator from writing the User codes (programed in Security > Sign in Codes to Comfort)

This is very useful for Installers who come back to change some programming. The user should have changed the user codes using the keypad so the codes should not be changed to the original or default codes when the configuration is written to Comfort again

It is possible to Read and Write User Codes directly in Security > Sign in Codes. Click on Read User Codes or Write User Codes

See http://www.comfortforums.com/forum122/4007.html for Comfort File Menu - Read and Write Comfort program files

Save Comfort to UCM EEPROM and Read from UCM EEPROM to Comfort

The UCMs (UCM/USB, UCM/ETH03) have an EEPROM that is used for backing up of the configuration in the Comfort controller.

This is useful when the configuration has been corrupted. It also backs up the user codes so when the user has forgotten the user and or engineer codes this can be used to restore the codes.

Comfigurator 3.13.1 and above  has a function to write Comfort > UCM EEPROM and Read UCM EEPROM to Comfort in the Transfer Menu
This requires UCM Firmware 7.131 minimum.
