An increasing proportion of our Cytech business has come about due to increased remote access to customers alarms.
For a small fee we maintain a remote connection and can diagnose faults etc remotely.
-----------------------------------
It would be good to have a better idea of the STATE of the remote connection.... currently there are 2 indicators 1st is that the login changes to logout (indicating that you are logged in !)2nd is that the remote address is displayed in the bottom right hand corner of comfigurator.
So perhaps use the remaining space at the bottom of the page where the current network (remote) is located to indicate login and port number and time logged in etc etc etc.

-------------------------------------
Engineer advanced and Engineer simplified - really don't see the point of this ! ----------------------------------------
Event log - greater visibility in the event log when remote sign in is enabled or disabled this applies to both configurator and the app.

--------------------------------------
Access to engineer menu by end user - I think its not a good idea to allow the end user ready access to the engineer screen. I think that you should password protect the engineer menu by use of the engineer code (which should be greyed out or not visible in the user menu!).

Currently the information on the bottom status bar is;
Network IP address and Port, Comfort Model, Vocabulary, File System. Comfort time.On the left of the bottom status bar, status info about UCMs which are in focus is shownSo a lot of useful info already. The only one we do not have is login time but I am not sure if that would be very useful

Engineer advanced and Engineer simplified - really don't see the point of this !
Engineer simplified is to make it lkess confusing for newcomersAdvanced and simplified menu options is not an uncommon feature in software. Anyway if you dont need the simplified option, set in advanced. The cclx file will retain the last option

Event log - greater visibility in the event log when remote sign in is enabled or disabled this applies to both configurator and the app.
Remote sign in is already recorded in the event log

Access to engineer menu by end user - I think its not a good idea to allow the end user ready access to the engineer screen. I think that you should password protect the engineer menu by use of the engineer code (which should be greyed out or not visible in the user menu!).

There is an option "Require Engineer Code to write to Comfort" which requires the engineer code to wrote to Comfort and prevents the user from doing a write. However use of Engineer ccode requires the user to press F0 on the keypad to protect the user from unauthorised Engineer programming. I dont recommend that as it may be inconvenient but it is there if you need to prevent the user from doing things

Or you just do not let the user have access to the cclx file which is simpler

Sometimes I wonder what planet I'm on.......
We deal with a lot of systems and all I'm trying to do is to help improve comfort. May of the items may be achievable by some obscure means.
Bear in mind we have hundreds of Comfort units that we service and maintain and an ever increasing number that are remote 'controlled'.

Surely some of our views/opinions should be given greater consideration !

All I said was most of your suggestions are already implemented.

The Port is already on the staus bar - it is not achieved by obscure means.
Event log already shows remote sign in - also not by obscure means

I asked what would be the advantage of showing log in time on the status bar - I think  that is a fair question? Implementing new features is not trivial, and we have made a lot if changes to meet the needs of customers, but there has to be good reasons, as our resources are not unlimited.

OK perhaps adding all of these items in one list was not good.
Remote login ........ the point i am making........What you are saying is correct but you are missing my point...... the dynamic address is stored in the comfigurator file.... Comfigurator displays this remote address across the bottom of the page...... this text string does NOT indicate a connection is present it is only a copy of what is in the file indicating HOW the connection is to be made. And yes it includes the port number.
What I am saying is that the only way of telling if a LIVE connection exists it to login.
Take the app as an example - when you open the app if there IS a live remote connection then the "login" tab becomes highlighted.
That is why my original post states "[highlight= rgb(222, 231, 240); font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 11px;]It would be good to have a better idea of the STATE of the remote connection."
