Hi, I'm selling the house to a new owner and unfortunately will have to go back to a manual house again! Although I'll soon get fedup of turning my own lights on and want to automate again soon!
In the mean time, I have a very automated house and wonder
a) if there is a distributor who would like to be reccomended to the new owners (York, UK)
b) what you would normally give to the new owner - CCL file on a cd, wiring documentation... anything else?
I'm sure I'll soon get fedup of getting up to turn the lights on and want to automate again soon!

You can take the opportunity to buy Comfort II for your new house, assuming the old one was Comfort I

Did you find the presence of Home Automation helped or hindered the sale of the house?
One day I might end up doing the same, but I've heard of cases where it's scared off too many buyers, and had to be stripped out to get a house sale.
Also wondering if any distributor/maintainer would be interested in taking on a system they didn't install themselves, if new owners can't or don't want to do it themselves, and what sort of information a distributor/maintainer would expect (in addition to the programming booklet).

In my opinion, it depends on what home automation systems are installed
If it is something that forces the user to use it, then those who are tech-averse may find it too a challenge.
For example Bus lighting systems like KNX and Cbus depend on electronic switches and touchscreens instead of common electric switches, If there was a failure of the system power supply then they would have no control of the lights
Changing or adding lights may also be more costly as they would have to extend the system which requires specialist installers rather than the usual electrical work
On the other hand, if the system does not force the user to use it, eg plain Comfort, then it would not matter if the new owner does not want to use such a system, and he should not want it uninstalled as it should add value when he sells the house in future
However finding a buyer who appreciates home automation should not be too difficult, even in these times. It should add to the value of the house in general
If a new installer were to take over maintainence oif a system, I beleive they would want to check the system and wiring, especially the wiring so that is something that should be done well. If it were to be done by an installer make sure you select an experienced one
