Zone Type Monitor Normally Open and Monitor Normally Closed have the property that they are IMMEDIATE is all security modes (Off, Away, Night, Day) but they trigger the Family Care alarm, which is a dummy alarm with Idle alarm state (ie does not turn on the siren etc). These zone types will be recorded in the Event Log when they are triggered

The Monitor Normally Closed Zone Type can be used for Soak Test, ie to test if any alarm zone is causing false alarms over a period of time

The Monitor Normally Open zone type can be used to trigger zone Responses, (instead of using Switch Normally Open Zone Type) like for a keyfob for arming and disarming. The advantage of doing so is that the activation is recorded in the Event Log so this can be traced.
