Hi

I'm having trouble running Comfigurator on Windos Server 2003.

I've never been able to run it, since my first download of v1.6

I've tried v1.6, 2.0 and 2.1, complete remove/reinstalls

also followed

http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/comfort-technical/message/3492

to remove any registry keys

Installation completes ok but trying to run it always comes up with the message

"Installation corrupted- please reinstall"

Any ideas?

Thanks

Have you tried this on another machine with the same OS?

Unfortunatly I don't have another Server 2003 machine to test on but it's interesting to note that WizComfort works perfectly fine on this machine when pointed at the Comfigurator installation

Right, installed comfigurator on another machine, freshly installed with server 2003 and.... it works.

Now i'm stumped. I can't reinstall the main machine, because it's running so much stuff.

What options does that leave?

is there a debug mode for comfigurator I can use and email u the log output?

Thanks

This applies to Comfigurator 2.1.x being installed on Windows Server 2003 R2

If you get the Error message “installation corrupted – please reinstall”. when you try to launch the application aftre installation, try these steps:
  1. Go to My Computer, right click on it, and go to Properties …
  2. Go To Advanced tab and click on the settings button of Performance
  3. Then go to the third tab ‘Data Execution Prevention’
  4. Change setting to the following ‘Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only’
Many thanks to Paul Gordon (UK) for brining up the problem and Bart De Pooter (Belgium) for the solution

Has anyone managed to solve this problem.  It seems that there are 2 other similar issues that have been posted on the forums.  None of them have a response.

I have just installed tried to install comfigurator on a brand new vista machine (all service packs and patches applied) and have the same problem.  I have also tried various versions of the software, but the all have the same problem.

I have tried running the app as administrator, set Windows 2000 compatibility mode.  Nothing.

If no one has been able to solve the problem, could one of the Cytech folks comment under which circumstances the message is displayed.  Maybe that can help us try to solve the problem.

Unlike the other postings, I can't put the software on a new machine, so I'm stuck.

Please help.

Thanks

Nic

Hi Nic,

I cannot offer much help, but to say that it works fine on my Vista Basic acer laptop.

All versions including the new 2.2.0.

Sounds like you have some local curruption on your machine.

The problems posted regarding installation of Comfigurator on Windows Server 2000 was already replied and addressed in the post which has now been merged with this topic, see above dated April 19 2007

There are no issues in which there are no responses

In your case, can you be more specific as to what error messages you received when you tried to install the software in Vista. There have been several customers on Vista already who have no problem installing and running Comfigurator

regards

Which version of Comfigurator are you attempting to run?  The error you report suggests a problem with the licensing checking, but this has been removed in the latest version.  If you're not using 2.2.0 then please do so.  If the problem persists, please provide details of which version of Vista you're using - it runs with no problem here on Vista Ultimate.

Hi

Just to add my note,  I had no problem getting 2.2.0 or the previous 2.1.2 interim version of Comfigurator running on Vista Ultimate either.  I am connecting via UCM/Ethernet so if there was an issue with licencing checks before 2.2.0 then I presumably didn't see it as the UCM/Ethernet licencing I understand circumvents this?

Hi, thanks for all the responses.

Here's the weird thing - after reading all of the responses, I decided to write down step-for-step what was happening.  Lo and behold, it now works.  I cannot explain it, but it must have something to do with shutting down the machine and then restarting it again now.

To anybody else having this problem, I suggest the following.  Uninstall.  Shutdown.  Restart and hope for the best.  That is pretty much the sequence in which I did things.

Once again, thank you everyone for the prompt response.

Nic

PS: For those who wanted the extra information, here it is for reference.

1. I am running Windows Vista Business

2. I've installed the latest 2.2.0 from the website (Comfigurator2.2.0_Single.zip).

Hi  Nic,

the number 1 rule for any Windows problem,  is to reboot.  If that does not work re-apply rule number 1.
