I have a Universal UCM with RS485 plug in that I bought to create an interface with Heatmiser, but haven't got around to doing anything with it as yet. I now see the new dedicated UCM/Heatmiser is on the website, which is great news. Is that a Universal with specific firmware? In other words, could I upgrade the firmware in my existing Universal UCM to create a UCM/Heatmiser?
Thanks

What that one that is shown as "Heatimser" on the website; could it be one and the same?

:D

Seriously though, at the very start of things (very Gandalf-esk!) we were able to re-task UCM's to different roles purely by re-flashing but then you stopped it. Was there a marketing reason behind this or were people just trashing their cards in the upgrade process and you wanted to prevent this?

UCMs of one type cannot be converted by flashing another Type. This has always been the case, even with the UCM programming cable
The consequence of  allowing discrimnate conversion to other types  would be tons of problems resulting in support cases eg with people converting UCMs to UCM/Cbus and losing their ability to use Comfigurator.

For Universal UCM we can allow conversion to Heatmiser since the interface used ie Rs485 or Ethernet are the same in both cases. This may be allowed by upgrading the UCM/Universal to an intermediate Universal UCM firmware  which then is allowed to upgrade to a Heatmiser UCM, just like conversion of UCM/GSM to GSM4
When the Heatmiser UCM is available we will gve more information

Now that the UCM is available is there any more information on how this conversion can be achieved?

To convert the Universal UCM to Heatmiser, please upgrade to Universal 6.027 which can be downloaded from http://www.cytech.biz/product_details.php?item_id=304
Unzip into univ6_027.cbf

Right click on Universal in Comfigurator Modules Tab and select Upgrade firmware from Local File and select the cbf file. Universal 6.027 firmware is a bridge firmware that allows it to be converted to the Heatmiser UCM

Download the heatmiser firmware from http://www.cytech.biz/ucmheatmiser_firmware.html?category_id=101

Then firmware upgrade again from Local file and select the heatmiser cbf file

This 2 step process allows a Universal UCM to be converted to Heatmiser
