I have spoken to CBUS (UK tech) and we think that there is a possibility of controlling the KT01 back light remotely.

This would be great as we can then activate the back light from a door contact or PIR when the room is dark.

I suspect that this might be possible with the new firmware version to be used with PICED and not with the current version.

This is a great idea.  Would it be possible to do with the KP04 - turn on the backlight when movement is detected near the keypad?  If so, how?

Thanks.

Currently not able to do that, but in future an action could be added to turn on/off the keypad backlight

Using PICED software, you can now enable the backlight for the KT01 to be lit during an Entry Alert.

To do so, whenever there is an Entry Alert alarm, create a response to send a C-Bus command to the KT01 UCM, e.g. CBUS On 2 1, which switches on C-Bus group address 1.

After that, in PICED, create a button. This button should be assigned a special function (in this case, backlight on).

Next, under the Remote Control tab, set it to "Activate Component for Any C-Bus Level". Then, go to the C-Bus tab, assign the network to local, application to lighting, and group address to the group address assigned above (in this case, 1).

The button may also be "hidden" by removing the borders, text and images.
