Hi,
I am looking for a simple remote that my elderly folks can use to control the lights in a specific room.
The remote must be fairly basic with a few keys.
Also,
Can I use the X10 Hr12a Palm Pad Controller (I do not use X10) without adding any other devices to Comfort ?
Each room has an SCS01 scene switch with IR receiver.
PS. the RC01 is too complicated for their use
Thanks

Perhaps you can just hide the RC01 keys except for the scene buttons?

The only way I can do that if I super glue most of the keys which will then render the remote void for normal use.
Is is possible to take any remote and learn the code thru the UCM and then link the stored IR code to a response ?
Is the X10 Palm Pad controller not an option ?
Thanks

You could try painting the unused keys black
The codes could be learned by another learning remote control, eg Pronto and others I dont know anythong about the palm pad remote though
The codes learned through the UCM can be sent from Comfort only, not from another handheld

Hi,
I am still searching for alternatives for a simple remote.
1. Are there any 'keychain' remotes for Comfort ?
2. Are there any X10 remotes that are compatable with SCS switches ?
3. Any CBUS remotes ?
4. Anything ?
Thanks

The X10 Remote control UR24 can be used with the Keypads, RIO (with IRD01 or IRR01) and SCS04/IR. When received these X10 IR codes are simply transmitted to the power line through the XM10E X10 interface (if plugged in) to other X10 modules
The C-Bus 8 button remote control can be used with the Keypads and RIO (with IRD01 or IRR01), but not the SCS04/IR. These buttons correspond to IR codes 1 to 16 in Comforot IR received codes (there are 2 switch positions on the C-Bus remote to select 2 banks of IR coodes)
