I've discussed this in the doorstation troubleshooting area of the forum, and thought I would post my feature request here as well.

I would like a change to the doorstation dial out process so that Comfort does not instantly connect the dialled phone for two way conversation with the doorstation.

My Comfort doorstation is configured to dial out to my mobile phone and the problem I have is that I may not be able to answer my mobile phone (because of being out of range, on another call, in a meeting etc). If I don't answer my mobile phone, my voicemail message is heard at the doorstation by the house caller. I primarily use my mobile phone for business and my voicemail is a business greeting (unconnected to my residential address) and includes details of my availability which may be useful information for potential burglars! I also think if a house caller is asked to leave a voice message at the doorstation it gives a definite impression that the house is vacant and therefore a security risk, whereas an unanswered doorbell does not necessarily mean the house is unoccupied.

Current process:
When the bell button is pressed on the the doorstation, Comfort dials the programmed telephone number and on answer instantly connects the doorstation to the telephone line for two way conversation.

Proposed new process:
When the bell button is pressed on the doorstation, Comfort dials the programmed telephone number and on answer asks the caller to press "0" on their phone keypad if they want to be connected to the doorstation. If the caller presses "0" then Comfort connects the caller to the doorstation for two way conversation. If "0" is not received by Comfort then the call is ceased and the house caller is left with the impression that the door bell has not been responded to.

I understand that some Comfort users may want instant connection between the doorstation and the dialled phone, so perhaps there could be a setting within Comfort to specify whether instant connection or connect only when dtmf "0" is received?

Any thoughts from the forum community?

Thanks

I think some users may prefer the current operation where if your phone is off the voicemail is heard. This allows the visitor to record a message on voicemail

Not answering  may also cause the visitor to press again on the doorbell and result in multiple messages on voicemail
I am afraid that making it work that way may break it for others

Perhaps your problem can be solved if you recorded a less informative  voicemail which can be used for business or home eg

"I am not available right now. Please leave a message or call back later"

Can I second this request. I'm having a similar issue. When the door station dials the mobile if its out of coverage or I can't answer it goes to voicemail... The problem is there is then no easy way to hang up! And if the background noise is high the voicemail is very long, costing a lot money as the call is from landline to mobile!

Separately, when the mobile rings in announces "Doorbell 1", is there anyway to change this announcement?

The proposed solution from dubourg would be ideal - e.g.if there was a 'press 0 to connect' or similar here...

Regards

Simon

The problem is, what Dubourg is suggestion is technically quite difficult to achieve, as in effect you are proxying the call with user interaction...The suggestion made is more the function of a PBX.

I suspect that Comfort is unable to tell the difference to when a call is answered in person or by voicemail (happy to be corrected) An alternative (if Comfort can detect say the difference between a ringing tone and out of range msg) maybe to have Comforts local voicemail capture the door message - this way you could have an alternate greeting.

This however negates the ability to know if a caller has been to the house an you were unavailable, as you would have to dial into Comfort to check for messages...

I think what duborg asked for is when the doorstation dials to the mobile phone, instead of connecting the intercom immediately a voice is detected, to do nothing until a DTMF key is detected. So the visitor does not hear the voicemail if the user does not answer the callComfort will say "Press 0 for Door station" when the call is answered

This is possible.
However the voicemail will still record "Press 0 for Door station"  and thee system will dial again. so it does not solve the problem
The current method is that the voice is heard and the intercom is started so the visitor is talking to the Voicemail, and this is recorded. The system will not redial because it thimks someone answered the call and talked to the visitor. There will be no redial.
Duborgs problem was that the voicemail message was not appropriate
But the proposed alternative may be worse, ie redial and record in voicemail
