I have a system with two keypads. one is working fine the other is working but never makes a noise.
there are 2 keypads in modules and settings
ID's are correct and i have tried swapping the id's
Wiring is correct as i have swapeed the units around and the comms work because you can arm the system on the mute unit.
both are running 1.03a.
I can force it to do a vocabulary download(*1) but it is still mute.
Ultra 11 5.145 and Kate 28.
Anything else i can check before i throw it in the bin?

Perhaps the speaker is damaged. You can check by measuring the AC voltage at the speaker terminals. If you can see a voltage change when the keypad should be talking that could be the case. If you can solder wires from a new speaker then that could fix it. We can arrange spare speakers to be sent to you if yiuy are handy with a soldering iron

I'd like to take you up on that if the offer is still open... - as you may remember from this thread that I started: http://www.comfortforums.com/forum69/2033.html - I have pretty much confirmed that it's the speaker that has failed on 2 out of 3 of my keypads. I've swapped them out for new ones, but that means I now have 2 KPs that are fully functional in all respects except the speaker failure... If I can replace the speaker I then have a couple of useable KPs that I can either keep as spares, or perhaps install in a couple of extra locations....

Another thing I wondered, - and perhaps you might be able to answer this, - is could I perhaps instead of replacing the speaker in one of them drill the case edge & fit a 3.5mm jack socket instead, & then use any handy PC speakers that I happen to have around? - would it work OK if I used passive (i.e. non powered) speakers? - albeit without the benefit of additional amplification I guess....

Cheers

Paul G.

We can send a few speakers by mail if you PM your address

Yes, you can use external speakers, 32 ohms types.
