I open the keypad case and found one or the wire connected to KP are almost broken, I cut it and reconnect back, the wording in LCD screen now working fine. No more funny character shown.
However, I notice the keypad now show "Communication Failure". How to resolve this issue?
I have two keypad. Another keypad showing "Communication Failure - Keypad 1". I guess the keypad that I open shall be keypad 1.

First, signin on the keypad. Communications Failure and other trouble alarms even when restored will remain on the LCD until someone signs in. WEhen you sign in then if the trouble alarm has been restored the trouble alarm will not be displayed anymore
If the communications failurfe still appears that means there is a problemn with the ID
each keypad shoyuld have a differnt ID, 1 and 2
To check the keypad ID, press and hold the * key. If you are asked to enter engineer menu, press F0 and entyer engineer code 6789#
Then press and hold * key until the ID is shown. Press the Up or down button to change the ID and F to exit
download the manual for KP04A from http://www.cytech.biz/kp04a_keypad_with_lcd_white.html for full instructions
