Hi,

I have recently purchased a Comfort II upgrade kit  (so that I can upgrade from my Comfort I system).

It would be appreciated it someone could give me some help with some UCM related queries.
  • I already had a UCM (5.147) with my Comfort I system can I use this with my Comfort II system?
  • My Comfort II upgrade kit came with a UCM at version 5.164, which having read this forum seems to be out of date already!
  • Again according to this forum I need a UCM at 5.178 to be able to use it to upgrade my other UCM and also my Comfort II when needed?
  • What are the benefits of using the 5.164 UCM over the 5.147 one with Comfigurator? (The reason I ask is that the existing 5.147 is already installed remotely from my panel but close to my PC, my thinking is if that will work fine with Comfigurator then I can keep my new one, at 5.164, to use for upgrading Comfort II when/if necessary).
  • Is there any dependencies relating to the verisions of Comfigurator and the versions of UCM firmware?
  • Is my best option to get my new UCM upgraded to the latest version then us it to upgrade the other one?
Many thanks,

Ian

UCM 5.178 and above is recommended for upgrading Comfort firmware because it is able to recover should there be any error during the firmware upgrade process. This is why we recommend it

We normally release new versions of the  UCM firmware quite often, normally to provide new features in the communications protocol so it is likely that you will not get the latest version of the firmware when you buy it.

You can use your UCM 5.164 to upgrade the older UCM following the instructions in http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=1782&forum_id=4&jump_to=7048#p7048
You should not have any problems with this, otherwise we will do the necessry to correct it

The latest firmware file can be downloaded from http://www.comfortforums.com/forum81/1872.html

You can use the upgraded firmware to upgrade the other UCM as well as Comfort

We have advised all distributors to check that UCMs have at least 5.178 firmware

Hi,

I have attempted to upgrade my 5.147 UCM using my 5.164 one and it doesn't seem to have worked:-(

I can confirm that I connected them as per the instructions, added the shunt and saw the LED status as described.

When I perform the upgrade I got an error saying it had failed (I have attached the UCM I/O Monitor).

I tried again and now I get "Product number or type does not match".

Cheers Ian

I will arrange for the distributor to reprogram the UCM or UCMs for you
Sorry about the inconvenience. This is why the later version is preferred, so that it can recover from such an error
