Hi

I am having a field day with my UCM comms.

I installed DS Manager 5.8.5

My UCM 6.0.0.6  ethernet , F is shunted

My CPU has been updated with the latest firmware.

I have 4 port DSL router. Firewall turned off.

My network cannot auto discover the ethernet UCM.

What's the configuration ?

Anybody knows of a network discovery tool > I am runng windows XP

Thanks

Thanks

Hi,

Did you get the ds manager from Cytech or Tibbo website?  Chiu told me (and I witnessed) that one version of the program on the Tibbo website had a problem and couldnt see the ucm.  Just a thought.

There is a DS-Explorer tool on the Tibbo website (part of Tibo IDE) that you could try too I guess.

I must admit it sounds like firewall or maybe one of these more advanced antivirus suites blocking!

I sometimes get the same but then I just use my old XP Laptop and connect via a crossover cable to the UCM.

Hi

I turned off anti virus check and the firewall.

Still can't see UCm

The Tibbo software was downloaded from Cytech

Plugged a Laptop to the same router port I intend using for the UCM. Checked what IP address the port is using.

Reconected same port to UCM with same IP address. Still can't find.

Loaded DS Manger on a WIN 7 laptop with a direct connection to UCM. Bitched about the firewall. Turn it off and again nothing.

Used another spanking new UCM I got yesterday with version 5.212 and the sister ethernet board.

And again, can't auto discover.

Why me I ask with tears in my eyes.

I tried all access methods. Should I be using the In Band TCP with port 1001 ?

Thanks for all the feedbacks

PS : Could not find DS-Explorer toolon Tibbo website.

Did you check out this?

http://tibbo.com/kb/general/networking/dealwith_firewall

Has some interesting Tibbo ports etc to check.

The DS Explorer is part of the TIDE download on:

http://tibbo.com/downloads/basic/software.html

Hi

I am using Escan for my Virus protection. Currently all disabled.

Found this neat software that will show you port/ip usage on the router.

 http://www.angryip.org

IP 10.0.0.4 is one I should be using but no ping on that IP. But DS Manager shows an ? next to the IP 10.0.0.4 address indicating that someting is there.

Should I be using the In Band TCP with port 1001 ?

Thanks

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing in DSManager.

The TCP/Port question should not stop you seeing the UCM in ds manager in the first place though.

Incidentally, I think this should not be in the ComfortClient forum as it's more to do with the UCM connectivity from DS Manager.   Admin, should this be moved to a different forum?

Thats correct,  This has nothing to do with ComfortClient
I have moved it to Troibleshooting > UCMs

Posting in the appropriate forum will assist in resolution as it alerts the moderators of each forum, and allows users to quickly find any post

This problem may be to do with your network Perhaps it is not connected in the same physical network so DS Manager is unable to find

As you have said, changing to old firmware does not fix the problem so the new firmware is not an issue

Also check the LEDs on the Ethernet daughterboard, and refer to the UCM Manual

http://www.cytech.biz/ucm_manual.html

Perhaps there is no power to the module

Hi

Sorry for posting in wrong thread.

The UCM manual I read is slightly different from this. I will go over it again.

But just browsing thru it and  I am sure I did not miss much. I check and feed back

Thanks

Hi

Connected the UCM with the ethernet cable supplied to my DSL router.
Ensured F was shunted

Did auto discovery on DSM and it did not pick up any

Monitored status lights on Tibbo module D101 and D104 off

D102 steady with single blink

D103 two blinks (green)

Tested with board version 6.007 and 5.192

Thanks

Refer to the UCM Manual http://www.cytech.biz/ucm_manual.html
Table 2.5 shows the meaning of the LED indicators on the Ethernet board
This shows that the connection is closed
There may be a physical conenction  problem
Try connecting the UCM/Eth directly to the PC using a crossed ethernet cable

Hi, I am interested, did you resolve this problem?

I am a newbie, but having carefully followed the instruction manual, am now checking this forum as I seem to have exactly the same situation. Turned off all anti-virus and disabled firewalls, downloaded DS manager from the Cytech site, tried connecting via two different routers and then a switch, but DS manager doesn't see the UCM - ETH02. Lights are on as per the manual so I am presuming the unit thinks it is on the network. Tried directly to PC with crossed cable but still nothing. What am I doing wrong? Getting very frustrated as all I want to do is program my alarm! Probably making a silly error.

With a crossover cable and the IP of my virtualised PC (Parallels - All Firewalls and AV disabled) and the IP address set of the PC fixed at 10.0.0.5 - I get a little question mark on 10.0.0.57 (see attached). Is this the UCM? When I double-click it, I get a message "There was no response from this device". Any suggestions?

I suggest you get a replacement for the UCM, and try it. I dont know why it would not be auto-discovered if you have switced off the firewalls. Are you sure that you have no firewals at all?
