Hi there.

I'm partway through installing a new Comfort Ultra, and so far, all has gone pretty swimmingly... todays task was to install the outside doorstation (A Farfisa Profila) connected to a DM02. Also I needed to route the power from the transformer secondary through the RGR05 module.

All this has been done, but on testing the doorbell, the RGR isn't ringing the internal phones... I can hear the relays clicking 20 times, so it seems like it's responding OK, just the phone doesn't ring...

I only have 1 phone in the house just now... it's a DECT phone, a Siemens Gigaset A120, which is connected to Comforts TEL OUT.

To be clear, re the RGR05 power connection, I cut the 2 brown wires from the secondary at the point adjacent to the 2 connector blocks on the RGR, and connected the then 2 pairs to J101 & J102 respectively. Comfort correctly responded to this event with a power failure alarm when I made the first cut, and a power failure RESTORE when I'd finished & plugged both blocks back in. Comfort is operating normally in all other regards.

The phone also happens to be a POTS phone that is connected to a VOIP line via an FXS port on my broadband router, It is connected using 2 wires only - I used the original RJ11 lead that was supplied with the phone which I cut in half so it goes:

broadband router---RJ11 plugged in to FXS port---TEL IN (2wires)---TEL OUT---2 wires---RJ11 plugged into DECT base station. There are no master sockets or any other house phone wiring at all... I'm in Norway, and the phone, router, & service are all provided by GET AS..

Is there anything else I can/should do to try to make the internal phone ring? - I don't have an internal sounder connected up yet, so my only means of hearing the doorbell is the internal phone ringing and the chime on the keypad.. the keypad chime is pretty brief and not very loud (which perhaps I could change in the siren types settings)...

Failing that, can I edit the doorbell response? - I'd perhaps like to have the doorbell announced on the keypad after the chime... I've looked in Comfigurator, but I can't find where the doorbell behaviour on the keypad is configured... I had this set up at my previous house, but in that case I had a "normal" bell press button connected to an input zone, so I had a response associated with the zone that I could edit as I wished..

The phone works correctly in all other regards... it rings when called from another phone, Comfort can dial out on it no problem.. it just can't seem to make it ring in a response...

Do you have another nonDECT phone to test in case the RGR05 is not working?
For some reason, DECT phones sometimes have  difficulty in ringing

You can go to Events > Misc Events > Doorbell Response and make a Response to play Reminder Message on Keypad and/or door station when the doorbell is pressed. You can record "doorbell" or a message for the visitor

I'll see what I can do, but I don't think so... I have a box of old phones, but IIRC they're all DECT ones & old mobiles. The only older type non-DECT landline phone I have is this one:

Can I make any measurements across TEL OUT during the ringing to confirm the ring signal is being sent to the line?

Cheers.

you can use a multimeter on AC volts on 100V AC range to measure the ringing voltage

Well, that's darn peculiar.... I went to do exactly this today, had the meter ready to read, pressed the test button on the DM02, and the DECT phone started ringing as it should... - I hadn't changed anything!! I'm sure I'm not going mad, it definitely wasn't working last night... but now it does...

Problem solved then I guess... :?

Poor connection perhaps which got fixed by the pressure of the probes?
