We have just moved to a house with the comfort system installed. The phone worked fine until someone rang the bell at the gate and I answered the phone. Now picking up the receiver I just hear 'phone trouble please sign in'.

I have plugged the phone into the Bt test socket (behind the face of the Bt master socket) and it works fine. However, all other sockets are still phone trouble and there is another alarm system (CIA) who need the phone line and say they can dial in as the engaged tone is hear.

How can I clear the line?

Thanks

If you have comfigurator try re setteing the system if the problem persist it could be to do with your are not terminatting the call when the doorbell is pressed and you answer it with your phone. the only other thing I can think is that their maybe a problem with the way the phone is wired in the comfort system.....

If you have reset the system and get the same problem;
It could be
  • the telephone line  from BT is not connected to Comfort TEL IN
  • or there is a fault on the Comfort
To verify, switch off the power  and disconnect the battery and check if the handset can get a dial tone. If yes, that means Comfort is causing the phone line problem. If no dial tone it means the incomi g telephone line is not conneted to TEL In and the wiring must be chceked

Download it from cytech.biz also you can open up the panel and where the telephone line goes in and out disconect and (pull out plugs) and then bridge connections to see if the problem is on the line there.
There is a reset button inside the panel but maybe hidden behind a sem/lem if you have one installed it just covers it.

UCMs are for programming with Comfigurator UCM/USB for USB and UCM/ETH03 by network connection
Check out a distributor website https://www.laser.com/index.php/category/UCM_Modules/cPath/96_160/osCsid/aailn15issajc8qkdhkhteab25

Thanks but I'm reluctant to buy one as I won't know what to do with it when it arrives. I'm trying to find someone who is able to visit the property to do all of this resetting business for me. The phone was fine until I answered the gate with it. That makes me think it's no wiring that's a problem. The phone still rings when someone is at the gate, then returns to 'phone trouble'.

Ringing the phone  does not involve the telephone line or a fault with Comfort (less likely)
The symptoms are consistent with not having the phone line connected to Comfort

What is your location, so that any Comfort installers can  see if they are able to help

It is best if you know the original installer. There may be contact details written on the controller enclosure
If you can see the serial number on the Comfort PCB starting with C.... or P... that may also help to trace

We have been installing Comfort systems for many many years. If you can let us know where you are or give the office a call I'm sure we can help out.

Do you know who the original installer was - I don't suppose that there is even the slimmest chance that the original program file is available!
