- palmlodge - 02-07-2007 Middle of the night, we heard the Keypad saying the BT message : 3.19am - \"Please hang up and try again\" (repeated a few times) Now you will normally get that when dialling OUT. Doing a 1471 showed no one called the house since yesterday afternoon. So Comfort recorded this as a message and the ansaphone light came on. When I listened to that message this morning there were multiple messages - someone had called yesterday and left a message but the light didnt come on for that. So a proper message didnt have the light on, a phantom one did. So I would summise Comfort tried to dial out for some reason at 3.19am - and recorded itself. ???!!!!??? It\'s clearly gone mad. - slychiu - 02-07-2007 I cant see how it is possible for Comfort to dial out and record itself no matter what is programmed. It only records incoming calls, or from the keypad (F4) or door station (if it was programmed to do so) If it tried to dial out you can see that in the event log as a Dial Out event with the index 1 to 8 There seems to be something weird going on, but perhaps not entirely related to Comfort? Perhaps BT is doing some strange testing in the middle of the night which it does not want consumers to know about? - palmlodge - 02-07-2007 In the event log, there is no record of comfort dialling NOR a call being detected. Nor is there in HomeSeer. I have no idea which way it was, but either way is not right ! The message on the ansaphone is a standard BT message when a line is opened and you dont dial anything. - slychiu - 02-07-2007 What we can conclude from the event log is that there was no dialout The event log does not record incoming calls How long do you open the line without dialing before the BT message is heard? if someone leaves the phone offhook they give this message? But why would it be recorded by Comfort? I still suspect that BT is the culprit. It just is not possible that Comfort could have recorded that message without being from an incoming call You said this happened before, but not for a long time until last night - palmlodge - 02-07-2007 Sine I last reported this, I had Night Rings set to 3 rings to trap this. As nothng has happened for 6 months, I put it back to 0 rings for night mode yesterday. Now, low and behold the problem is back again. Coincedence ? That BT message is a standard off-hook message, and comfort recorded it \" - slychiu - 02-08-2007 That explains it then Comfort detected a ring, answered the call and recorded the messsage from BT The ring which was detected may have been a test signal from BT. You should not set the number of rings to 0 or 1 to avoid these false ring detections - palmlodge - 02-08-2007 Can you elaborate on this \"test\" from BT ? What information do you have on this ? And you dont think it\'s a coincidence that I had this problem when rings are 0 , it goes away when it\'s set to 3, and then comes back the moment I set it back to 0 If it\'s not a valid number of rings why is it there ? I dont want the phone ringing in night mode. - slychiu - 02-08-2007 It is not a coincidence that you have the problem with the no of rings is 0. I was saying that that is the reason If you set 0 rings any ring that it detects will cause Comfort to answer the call, play the greetung message and record the message which you heard There is a standrard ring detector in Comfort which detcets the rings, and that has to be a large signal, about 20V to trigger this, so it not some random noise .That is why I suspect the BT test signal. I do not have any special information, just a conjecture. Setting the rings to 2 or 3 should fix this - palmlodge - 02-08-2007 But I want the system to not ring in Night mode Are you saying that comfigurator should not be presenting us with a number of rings of 0 or 1 and that is a bug ? - slychiu - 02-09-2007 If you set 0 or 1 rings, as long as any ring signal which is over the voltage threshold is detected, Comfort will answer. Your telephone line apparently has been occasionally getting a \"ring\" signal which has caused Comfort to answer because of the ring settings. It may have been some large noise transient at approximately the same frequency as a ring signal which is 20 Hz. It may even have been a genuine ring signal, perhaps someone called and changed his mind and hung up after 1 ring. I am just giving the possibilities, but there is no bug for Comfort or in Comfigurator. It is working as programmed regards |
