I am looking at upgrading older X10 wall switches to the new comfort Wireless modules.

I\'ve identified that I need the CBUS UCM, wireless power supply module and wireless gateway in addition to the lighting units themselves.

Do I need the CBUS programming module? It seems an expensive investment for something I will probably use once when there is a manual setup facility. With Comforts flexibility I would have thought that I could control a standard setup adequately.

TIA

Darren

Darren - I have the same setup as you.

From what I know you would want someway of programming cbus, so either the Serial, USB or Ethernet interfaces.

Is someone installing the cbus system for you? They could do an initial program?

That was confusing, you meant c-bus wireless
The C-Bus interfaces may come in useful even after initial installation if you need to change or check any of the addresses or groups to something different, although it may be less likely if you have only a few modules.

Hi Chiu

I was initially talking about upgrading some of the X10 switches to cbus wireless but I\'m now considering extending the house and doing a full (wired) CBUS retrofit.

I\'m currently reading the CBUS manual but was wondering if the basic setup that came with CBUS was adequate for comfort to control or whether I would really need the PC interface module? If I did not purchase the PC Interface, what would I be restricted from doing?

TIA

Darren

Hi Darren
I am afraid that you would need the (Cbus) PC Interface module )or Ethernet) in order to set the Group addresses for the devices. Comfort is not able to program the C-Bus side of things. Once you have assigned the Group addresses then you can use Comfort to control them and to be be controlled by the C-Bus switches
