- cgiltrow - 09-08-2006 Hi, I have a Comfort Ultra I Action 4.227. I have two zones that are configured to announce (Z9(PIR): \"Roof Movement\" & Z10(Magnetic Contact Switch): \"Front Gate Open\") when they detect movement. Normally they work perfectly fine. However, when a zone (any zone - not necessarily one of the above two) goes into a trouble state, then above two zones announce trouble (\"Zone 9 Trouble\" & \"Zone 10 Trouble\") even though these particular zones are not in a trouble state. Even after the trouble zone is restored to a normal state (and the system annouces that the trouble zone has been restored) the announcing zones (Z9 & Z10) continue to announce \"trouble\". At the point the system is not in a trouble state at all and the light is steady and not flashing. If I reset the system then everything continues to work correctly again, until I have another zone (any zone) go into a trouble state, at which point the problem re-occurs as I have described it above. This problem has occured ever since I installed the system - just under a year ago. Please help! Many thanks. - slychiu - 09-08-2006 Thanks for giving your Comfort firmware and model number, when reporting the problem as it may help in determining what the problem may be I have not come across this problem before When the zone trouble occurs, does the zones 9 and 10 get detceted correctly. eg if you go to Security check (F3,2) can you hear the two zones announce correctly when they activate? Also if you remove the wires from zone 9 and 10 and just connect the EOL resistots, and then cause a zone trouble, does the same problem occur? ie is there a physical link between these two zones to another zone? - cgiltrow - 09-08-2006 The zones do report correctly - the announcement only occurs when there is movement or when the gate opens. The problem is that the wrong thing is announced (\"zone trouble\" vs \"movement\"), not that an announcement is made. The zones also report correclty when you disconnect the sensors and just use the wires and resistors. I tried the security check. Here is what happened:
- slychiu - 09-09-2006 we will need to check with Action 4.227, but we need more information Does this problem only occur with these 2 zones 9 and 10 What if there were a zone trouble and other zones are triggered eg 1 and 2, does the system announce zone 1 trouble, zone 2 trouble Can you remove the wires from Zones 9 and 10, change to NO EOL on the zone shunts so you can short out the zones 9 and 10 without EOL resisotrs and repeat the test with zone trouble, ie when there is zone trouble and you open zones 9 and 10, do you have the same announcement. If not I suspect there is a connection between the zozones 9,10 and the other zones in trouble, perhaps someleakage regards - cgiltrow - 09-17-2006 Hi - Sorry I took so long to get back - Just took a while to get round to doing testing. Here is what I did and the results: In response to your first question (\"Does this problem only occur with these two zones 9 and 10\"): I setup an announce on zone 4 ( and tested it - all working) and then put zone 6 into trouble. The announcement on zone 4 became \"Zone 4 trouble\" even though zone 4 was not in trouble. So, no the problem does not only occur on these zones. In response to you second question (Removing the zone wires etc.): I then changed the shunts on zone 9 and 10 to NO EOL, disconnected the sensors and shorted the zones. I then reset the system and tested the zone 9 and 10 ( and they were working as expected ). I then put zone 11 into trouble. When I broke the short on zone 9 and 10 the announcement was \"Zone 9 trouble\" and \"zone 10 trouble\" (even though these zones were not in trouble). I then reset the system and tested - all zones annouced correctly. I then put zone 6 into trouble and activated zone 4. The announcement was also still \"zone 4 trouble\". (For this test zones 9 and 10 were still set to NO EOL and shorted). I then broke the shorts on zone 9 and 10 and the announcement was also still \"zone 9 trouble\" and \"zone 10 trouble\". Thanks. - slychiu - 09-18-2006 there seems to be a strange problem with your board which we do not understand Can you get a replacement board so we can take a look at this when it is returned - cgiltrow - 10-14-2006 Hi, I had the board replaced with a version 4.233 board. I have just finished installing and testing the new board and found that the exact same problem as described in the thread still exists. Any ideas? Cheers. - slychiu - 10-16-2006 It appears that there may be a long standing bug with the announce zone action when another zone has a trouble condition. We are now looking into this. If this happens you can clear it by going into security check, as you reported This should rarely happen as zone trouble should not be a normal occurence regards |
