It would be really useful if we could program the UCM Network module to send commands over TCP/IP as more and more things are coming with a network interface.
Do you think its possible in the future?

send what sort of commands and to what device?
The UCM does all the sending and receiving, the ethernet module oass through the commands.

Just off the top of my head - Sonos multi room uses TCP/IP over the network - so Comfort could turn music on for you or start the radio in the morning when it switched the lights on and open the blinds etc.
Most Home Audio stuff eg my TV, Amp and Sky box as well as my HTPC have network control options - so I could push say button 2 on my lounge lighting switch (Rako) and comfort could pick that up and know thats TV mode so set my TV mode lighting plus also switch all the devices on for me...

which are RS232 over the network - so using your existing infrastructure Comfort could control any RS232 device any where in the hosue there was a network point.....

Perhaps a UCM/Universal with Ethernet module would do the trick. I am using a UCM/Universal to control an AV Matrix-Switch via RS232.
Check Cytech\'s web site if there is any documention for the UCM/Universal-Ethernet and perhaps it could do the trick for you. If not then just drop them an eMail.
I also have a Media player that accepts HTTP commands to do certain functions. I\'ve put in a request for ComfortClient to support this but it\'s a fair bit down the list of things to do. I can currently control it via my Android phone but it would be nice if it\'s all linked together.

Hi,
I\'m looking at purchasing a Comfort Alarm System and this is one of the things holding me back currently! Is there any plans for sending commands via TCP/IP?
I\'m really looking to tie my Sonos/XBMC setup into my home automation setup.
Any ideas if this would be implemented or any feedback on the feature would be great!

Comfort is already able to send or receive commands by TCP/IP
The UCM/Ethernet is an interface to the ethernet

You can use this to program Comfort via Comfigurator or control and monitor Comfort via the free iPhone app https://www.cytech.biz/iphone_app_1.html
If you wish to control other equipment via TCP, use the Universal UCM with ETH02 interface see https://www.cytech.biz/universal_ucm_interface.html
This allows you to send any command to a thrid party system by TCP and to receive commands and to trigger counters or responses

Sonos uses uPnP - whilst the list of what we want could go on forever, I\'d relish the chance of having Comfort just issue a \"PAUSE\" and \"PLAY\" command, to tie up with arming modes and doorbell activation.

You can use SEND RS232 actions to send these commands through the UCM/Ethernet or UCM/Universal with ethernet

Some interesting suggestions, hace sonos myself, so doing a bit of control via comfort sounds pretty cool. One think though, is how would you be able to address specific zoneplayers from comfort without knowing the ip address of the zoneplayer ? Which can and does change ?

The ETH02 module can be configured in Server / Slave mode or Client
Server mode is the default, where the messages are sent from the UCM/Ethernet to all who listen on the part
Client/Master Mode is where the messages are sent to a specified IP address and port and this mode should be what you should to talk to Sonos if it only listens on a certain port. However if the IP address can change then I dont know what is the solution. You should be able to assign a fixed IP address to it
