Hi
My turn for some odd behavoir from a system that\'s been installed for over 6 years.
Last night was interrupted by false fire alarms from several smoke detectors, and it would seem this is down to a fault on the SEP.
Having removed the cover on the panel to which the smoke detectors were all connected I found to my horror that the battery was quite hot, bulging in a couple of places and the positive terminal had been so hot as to melt the red plastic.
The battery charging voltage is 14.2 V which is too high in my opinion. The other panels in the system are all at 13.7 on charge.
I suspect the voltage regulator / charging circuit has been damaged by the failing battery and is now passing too high a voltage.
This is clearly a problem as the 12V supply on the PCB is also at this 14.2V level and I suspect this is why I was getting false alarms from the smoke detectors.
Before I connect a new battery to this panel, is there any chance of getting the schematic for that part of the circuit?
