I am using Comfort I with Version Action 4.227.

For the last two months I have been having a strange occurrence regarding my alarm. It has happened a few times already and the behaviour is consistent.

Before this started happening, once the alarm was triggered it would active the (armed response company) radio relay as well as the siren and reset both after a while. When I get home afterwards I would hear the announcement of the trouble zone and if I need to I would go through the logs and hear the sequence of events which caused the alarm to go off.

 What is happening now is, the alarm is triggered and the both relays will be re-triggered continuously for as long as it takes me to get home and cancel the alarm. The last time this happened, the siren went off for over two hours and my neighbours were not impressed with me. To make matters worse, when I cancel the alarm on the keypad it starts announcing zones which makes no sense, for example it would announce a door that is closed as open. The events log gets reset and it would announce the same zone as the one that triggered the alarm, which means I have no way of detecting what triggered the alarm. It will continue in this bad state until I reset the panel. After reset, it stops announcing incorrectly and the event log starts building up again.

 

What could be causing this?

This means that the zone which caused the alarm is being retriggered continuously
This should be announced in the event log
There may be a problem with the contact or detector which is causing this

Look for a field in Comfigurator > Modules and Settings called Zone Autoshunt count
The number in this field will automatically bypass a zone after it triggers consecutively for the number of times in alarm, and will limit the retrigerring

When this happens, there is always one event in the event log.

It\'s strange because after every triggered alarm, cancelling the alarm with the keapad, the system will announce the zone as unsealed every few minutes. This continues until I physically reset the panel. If I do not reset, and try to arm the system, it complains about the same zones or it arms and triggers the alarm seconds after. The only way out everytime is reset.

What you have described shows that the zone is being retriggered, that is why the announcement of zone unsealed happens again and again
Can you remove the zone wiring from that zone and short the zone with a wire. If the alarm happens again that means there is something wrong with  Comfort. If you do not have the alarm or zone trigger again that means the problem is with the magnetic contact or sensor or the wiring

The alarm went off today (twice), and it did not re-trigger.

How would I know if it is wiring or magnetic contact (without changing the contact and waiting to see)?

Do you mean even after  you shorted the zone,  there was an alarm caused by triggering at the (same) zone?

No, I mean the another zone triggered the alarm (PIR picked moving curtain, this PIR is becoming a pain). It was triggered twice in an hour. The panel did reset each time, and when I got home, the event log was still intact.

OK, so the Comfort panel is not causing the alarms. The next step is to short the magnetic contact at the end of the cable, and not at the zone. If you dont get an alarm it means that the contact is acting up. If you do get the alarms it means that the wiring and not the contact is cauing this

I did that and the first intruder alarm went off last night and all is still well which means the magnetic contact was the culprit.
