Just to close this out ...
In the end I tried moving the UCM connection to a different COM port on a different card on the PC (I have 2 X 8 port serial cards in the PC, so 16 ports to choose from).
The only change I\'d made recently was to add another 3 serial connections on to the same card as the UCM port. For whatever reason, this seemed to upset the UCM connection. No other port seemed affected.
Now it\'s on the other card/different port I don\'t see any of the errors I was getting earlier, either in Wizcomfort, Comfigurator or the Homeseer plugin.
