UCM/Ethernet and IR learning
#1

Pages 3-4 of UCM manual say:
\"...  The IR Learning and Audio function are NOT supported by the UCM/Ethernet Comfigurator and Wizcomfort will work with the UCM/Ethernet. ...\"
Am I reading this correctly;  if I take a UCM05 and plug in a ETH01 daughterboard then it disables the IR learning feature of the UCM05?

The IR learning software does not support the Ethernet Interface, only the serial interface. This is a separate software which can be launched from Comfigurator.
However in new UCM/Ethernets, the serial interface is still present, you just change the shunt from 485 to 232 to select the serial interface, without needing to remove the Ethernet plug in

The statement about the audio not supported is misleading not correct and will be removed. The audio does not go over the ethernet - neither does it get transmitted through the serial interface

OK sounds reasonable, thanks.

Related question though.

I’m buying a UCM05 mainly for its flashing capability of the system but am planning to take the ETH01 off of my old UCM01 and put on the UCM05.

But a question is if I leave UCM01/Eth as is and install the UCM05 alongside can I reflash the system (following normal procedure of course) via Comfigurator on Ethernet through the old UCM01/Eth combo; ie will flashing still work as both UCMs are sharing comms on the Comfort bus.

No that will not work
Remember that the Ethernet plug-in is a serial to Ethernet converter (and vice versa) and if you leave the Ethernet on the UCM01, the commands will go to that UCM, not to the UCM05 with the programming cable
