DM02 and Comelit intercom ?

Hi,
I am trying to get the DP02 doorstation interface to work with a Comelit CIT 216A intercom at our automated gate (Intercom Ref. Tech sheet).

So far I have connected the DP02 in parallel with the existing cabling from the outdoor gate Comelit intercom to the indoor Comelit handset as follows:

I HAVE connected:
DP02:                 Comelit:
Spk           -->     2 (Intercom speaker input),
Door Mic   -->     3 (Intercom microphone output),
Bell           -->     S (Electronic call signal input),
COM1       -->     C1,
NO1         -->      P1,

I have NOT connected:
DP02:              Comelit:
GND     -->    4 (Negative analogue)

The reason for not connecting the GND --> 4 is that my Comelit intercom system is powered from the gate controller supply not the DP02.

What happens so far:

• When gate intercom button is pressed the indoor handset rings but not the house phones,
• If I tap the on-off hook button under the Comelit indoor handset the internal house phones will ring announcing \"Doorbell 1\" and then silence,
• The Comelit indoor handset speaker has stopped working since connecting to DP02, the person at the gate can hear me but I cannot hear the person at the gate now.
• Open gate relay pulse response works as expected, gates open.
  

My questions:

1.) Is in necessary / safe to connect GND --> Comelit 4 (Negative analogue) even though they are separate voltage sources (GND = Comfort 0VDC, 4 = Comelit/gate 0VDC or 0VAC not sure yet) ?

2.) The issue with the phones not ringing and possibly the Comelit indoor handset speaker not working may be related to the handset on/off hook switch. There is mention in the manual about the simulating the handset on/off hook using a relay. Can you provide more information on how this would work?

You mean DM02 Door Station Interface not DP02

J1 which is a 3 position shunt must be set in the correct position;

\"J1: Shunt J1 to positions 1-2 if the doorbell input (to BELL
terminal) is a DC signal of 5V to 24 VDC. Leave J1 open if the
Doorbell input is an AC signal 5 V to 24 VAC. Shunt J1 to positions
2-3 if the doorbell input is a voltage free contact. Pin 1 is marked
with a circle.\"

I am not exactly sure about the Comelit, it may be an AC voltage but you will have to test

There needs to be a common ground point between the DM02 and the Intercom as signals from one are going to the other so Pin 4 must be connected to DM02 ground

Your question (2)
In some intercoms, the audio path is not opened until the intercom handset is off the hook. The Misc Events > DS Voice On Response can be used to turn on an external relay to simulate the offhook condition. When the handset of a phone or intercom goes offhook, an internal switch on the handset connects the phone circuitry to the telephone line. Hence you have to connect the external relay in parallel to the internal switch to simulate the handset going offhook
I dont recommend doing this unless you have a fair bit of electronic knowledge as it would invalidate the warranty of the intercom or damage it.

when the door station is pressed, take the handset offhook. Does that allow the DM02 audio to work?

Yes, of course you are correct, it is a DM02, my mistake.

I have checked and the this Comelit intercom uses a AC ringer signal of approx. 4.3VAC at 130HZ between wire S (Electronic call signal input) and wire 2 2 (Intercom speaker input). I have had the jumper J1 unshunted so far so this should be correct.

I have now connected the Comelit wire 4 (Negative analogue) to Comfort GRD. This has resulted in the Comelit indoor handset no longer sending voice to the outside intercom, now neither intercom can send or recieve, not sure why this is yet.

I\'ll have to try the off hook test next weekend when I have time again.

I have some more detailed information I recieved from Comelit about the wiring of their intercom. I haven\'t had time to interpret what it means yet regarding wiring up to the DM02:

Yes, the handset does have to be off-hook for the microphone / speaker to go live

Below I have listed each wire and its function and voltages expected to see at the handset:
P1 = Lock Release (4 = negative return) (0V when pressed),
S = Call wire (4 = negative return) (14VDC – 18VDC when called ), NOTE there is also a call tone generator voltage on this wire supplied by the 1538 power supply.
2 = Upstream audio (4 = negative return) (9VDC on hook, 1-2VDC off hook),
3 = Downstream audio (4 = negative return) (9VDC on hook, 4-6VDC off hook),
4 = Common Negative 0V.

The connection that you have done to DM02 is from Comelit indoor or outdoor unit?

How do you connect the Comelit indoor and outdoor unit, and then to the DM02?

If I refer to the Tech Sheet you have attached in initial post, it seems that you have connected the indoor unit to the DM02 module?
As for the outdoor unit, there are several model listed: 2602, 1538, and 1600; which one do you use?

Hello,

What I have done so far is connect the DM02 in parallel with the indoor handset. The cable is coming in from the outdoor gate and is feeding both the DM02 and the Indoor handset.

The indoor handset is Model 2602,
The powersupply supplying the intercom system is Model 1538,
The outdoor station is the Model 1600 unit, on the diagram it has multiple bell outputs (S1-S4) to multiple indoor handsets but we only use the one S1.

What I\'ve been trying to do so far is setup the DM02 in the same way as a 2nd indoor handset would be setup.

Comelit wire 4 should be connected to Comfort ground pin

Shunt J5 should be removed - this may be causing the handset not to be able to talk to the external station

Can the intercom ring the Comfort phones?

Can you use Comfort to (1) talk or (2) listen to the external door station?

And Jumper J5 has always been removed.

Before I connected the Comelit ground to pin 4 the outdoor intercom was able to ring the indoor comfort phones and you could hear the person outside but not speak to them.

Now with Comelit ground connected to pin 4 the Comfort phones do not ring and the indoor Comelit handset can not speak to or hear the outdoor intercom.

Have you tried the intercom between the outside door station unit (1600) and the local phone which is connected to the TEL-OUT connector of Comfort?
