A UCM/ETHernet or UCM/USB is required for programming with Comfigurator. The UCM is required to program Comfort but is not required for normal operation, and can be removed after programming. However a UCM/ETH02 allows remote programming and access by iPad, iPhone, Android phone or tablet and is the recommended choice
The UCM used for programming by Comfigurator should have its ID set to 1. This is because UCM ID #1 can be removed from the system without causing a Communications Trouble alarm. UCMs from the factory are set to ID1 as default.
For instructions on how to set UCM ID, see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/3418.html
The UCM communications port must be selected
Go to Options > Settings as shown in the screenshot below. You must specify the connection method in order to connect Comfigurator to Comfort.

See a video on Youtube on how to set up the ethernet connection https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctsr49Y-vZE
For instructions for using USB interface go to http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/3404.html
Each of the 4 methods of connection, ie Serial, Network (Local), Network (Internet) and USB and the associated address is saved in the cclx file
This is very useful for Local and Internet IP connections as it saves you from having to remember and type the IP address and port when you connect from the local network or from the Internet.
The UCM Connection methods in Comfigurator are saved in the cclx file from Comfigurator 3.6.x
The connection setting can be seen in the Status bar at the bottom of the Comfigurator screen as shown below

Check that this connection method and address is correct before proceeding
To test the connection to Comfort, go to Transfer > System Information.
The log in window will appear as shown below. Enter the user code (default 1234) and press OK

If the connection setting is correct, the System Information screen should be displayed
