Installation & set-up instructions for UCM/Eth
#1
I bought a UCM/Eth board a couple of years back but never installed it.
This was mainly because I only have Macs - not a PC, so -perhaps erroneously- thought I was not going to be able to communicate with Comfort.
Now that the iPad app is available I have a fresh reason to install the UCM/Eth.
BUT
I cannot find either
1/. the installation instructions
or
2/. the programming/set-up manual
Please could you point me to links for download.
plus
I am sure I will need to upgrade my firmware as well. I installed the panel about 5 years ago. Can I get the firmware version using the engineers menu?
or
I do have a Macbook plus a USB/serial adapter - I seem to recall there is a way I can talk to the UCM/Eth via the RS232 port on the UCM/Eth. Again - if I am correct, please could you point me to a link that will help me.
Last question: If I power up the UCM/Eth from 12v source will I be able establish communication - over RS232 before I connect the UCM/Eth into comfort?
Many thanks

Do you have UCM/Eth01 or UCM/Eth02? Only the latter can be used for iPad/iPhone/android app

You can check the difference here http://www.comfortforums.com/forum113/2602.html
If unsure, post the photo of your UCM

The UCM manual can be downloaded from https://www.cytech.biz/ucm_manual.html?category_id=107

There is no Rs232 port on the UCM/eth. and you will not be able to communicate with the UCM if it is not connected to Comfort

You need to connect the UCM/Eth to comfort and connect the LAN port to a port on your switch or router, use Comfigurator
Instructions for using UCM and comfigurator may be http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3398.html

You can use Comfigurator to check the firmware of your system components, instructions are in the link above

Upgrading firmware can be done via Comfigurator

Thank you
the forum113/2602 link tells me it is a Eth01.
So that scuppers my plans until I get the new one.

One more question: From what I can see the iPad app is for the \'end-user\' and I will still need Comfigurator running on a PC to program my system?

You should be able to buy the ETH02 submodule to replace the ETH01 submodule so you do not need to buy the whole UCM/ETH02

The iPad app needs the cclx file which is produced by Comfigurator
The cclx file is converted to a format that is readable by the iPad app
This allows the app to read the zones and control menu used to control Comfort
So you will need Comfigurator.
You also need Comfigurator to upgrade your UCM and Comfort firmware to Version 7 which is the minimum firmware for the app to work

The UCM and Comfigurator is a necessity for all the new features in Comfort and those which are coming
