Wiring multiple keypads
#1
On one existing installation we need to add another KP06 keypad next to a KT03 (clients decided they prefer mechanical keys to touchscreen, but they wish to keep the KT03, as well, for zone bypassing, event list, etc.).

I suppose that we can simply daisy-chain the bus and power connection to the new KP06 directly from the existing KT03? It is a RS485 bus, right?

I ask this because it says in the hookup diagram \"Connect Keypad & Door station wiring to terminals in \'star\' configuration.\". But it seems to me that this remark refers to analog audio wiring (MIC & VOICE).

Since we obviously don\'t need two intercom units one next to the other, I suppose, we only need to connect the KP06 to VOICE line (for system messages). Right? May we also daisy-chain this connection or do we need a star connection from the panel to the keypad?

Its fine to daisy chaiin the KA, KB, Voice and mic to the 2 keypads
However it is best to double up the 12V and Ground using the spare cables in the CAT5 cable
It is the voltage drop along the cable which can affect the keypads due to the current when the keypads both announce messages like zones and security

Thanks. About the power, the cable we use has 2 thicker leads (0,5 sq. mm each) which we always use for power. If it should need more, we have spare wires as well.
