Firmware upgrade versions
#1
Hi,

I have an install with a 9000 Comfort 2 panel with firmware - Week, 5.045, file system 34 and UCM type 10 v 5.092 (old serial UCM). X10 is also in use in this install, so no option for a 9001 upgrade

It\'s using the last version of Comfigurator 2 (v 2.2.3) and whilst the upgrade to Comfigurator 3 is on the to do list (as is updating to a UCM6/ETH), that won\'t happen yet but it will be good to be able to nevertheless update the Comfort and UCM firmware to the latest version.

Are there any restrictions to what version of both Comfort and UCM Serial to upgrade to whilst maintaining compatibility for the current Comfigurator 2 (CCL) file?

Firmware version 5 cannot be upgraded. There is a plug in MPU01 with the micrcontroller. This can be replaced by a newer Flash MPU version 7 that can be upgrade firmware. However I am not sure if we have these in stock. Your UCM needs to be changed to the new UCM06 in order to work with Comfigurator 3.

In fact at one time we transmitted the X10 commands to the slave so that the Slave can be used to send X10, but I am not sure if that was completed. If you can get the X10 connector on the slave you can test

So it seems the minimum denominator here is the flashable MPU 7 in order to be able to upgrade anything. Are you able to check if I can source this please?

Yes thge part number is MPU01, but we do not have stock any more. Perhaps you can check if Laser has any left Otherwise you will have to order the new CM9001 PCB

They do have stock. A few questions though

1. How can I tell if the panel is pro or ultra and does that have any bearing on the above upgrade chip which is ultra?

2. Per original question, once I receive the MPU01 and do a flash upgrade, is there any restriction to the firmware version so that it will continue to work with the existing UCM/R2S32 5.092 and Comfigurator 2 CCL file?

3. Is the UCM6/Eth also able to work with the Comfigurator 2 software (backward compatible)?

After logging in and scanning Modules, the bottom right of the status bar will show OPT or ULT. Laser stock should be ULT I would expect

I have a slight worry, that after so lone the MPU01 pins and the sockets on the CM9000 PCB may have a bit of corrosion that may prevent good contact. If you climate is dry that may not be a problem compared to where we are (Singapore)

The new firmware should work with Comfigurator 2 and UCM/232. But if you have the new firmware why not change to  UCM/ETH03 and use Comfigurator?

Not compatible due to changes in the Comfort Protocpl. The last Comfigurator 2 was versin 2.2.3 in 2007

After logging in the bottom right of the status bar doesn\'t change in Comfigurator 2.2.3, rather I believe that is dictated only by the configuration template in use.

When I get a system information report, the file system is 34 - does this then equate to Comfort 2 Ultra?

Yes. It is ultra

OK great, then I\'ll order the MPU01.

The use case currently is that I would like to use sunset and sunrise times to dictate some time specific responses that were previously using an LSM which is no longer working. I believe the Sunset and Sunset times and hence the NightTime flag only work in Comfort Firmware 5.111 and above, hence the need to upgrade from the current 5.045

In terms of ordering the UCM/ETH also, as per your answer to above, it isn\'t backward compatible with Comfigurator 2, so I would need to invest the time to do the upgrade to Comfigurator 3 which will be a later project.
