Upgrading KT03 Firmware via another UCM

The KT03 firmware can also be upgraded via another UCM. This is convenient as you do not have to open the front cover of the KT03 to get at the USB port. Instead you use the regular UCM/USB or UCM/Ethernet. UCM/Ethernet can also be used to upgrade the KT03 firmware over the Internet which is valuable if the site is far away, provided port forwarding and remote access has been set up. However while upgrading by KT03's  USB port takes about 5 minutes, upgrading via another UCM takes about 20 minutes.

The procedure for upgrading KT03 via UCM is as follows

In Comfigurator 3.8.x or above, go to Options > Settings > UCM Connection

Select USB or Network Local or Network Remote.
Serial is also available if you have an RS232 connection and UCM/232

For USB click the drop down box to find your USB serial number
For Network, enter the Local IP address or Internet IP address and port

If USB is connected, uncheck the "Via KT03" box as the connection is not by the KT03's USB port

The rest of the procedure is the same as for upgrading via the KT03's USB

In Comfigurator, go to the Modules Tab, right click the KT03 on the left pane.

Select Check for Firmware Updates. This automatically downloads the latest firmware from the Cytech server and starts the firmware upgrade.

You will be asked to enable Engineer Mode before the firmware upgrade can start. Press F and 0 on any keypad to enable Engineer mode.

The firmware upgrade takes about 20 minutes via the UCM

When upgrading via UCM/Ethernet, sometimes the upgrade may time out due to connection problems (these are common  network issues)

In this case a window will pop up

"Firmware Upgrade Timed Out - Continue from Last address?"

Select "Yes" to continue with the upgrade

Important: Do not let the computer go to sleep during the upgrade process, as that may abort the upgrade. Keep the PC awake by periodically pressing a key to wake it up

If the firmware upgrade fails for any reason do not power off or reset the KT03. Repeat the firmware upgrade.
If the upgrade fails and cannot recover even after repeated attempts,  you must use the UCM with Programming cable to upgrade the KT03 Firmware see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/1782.html
