This case study describes an installation of TSM01 used in monitoring temperature of 2 refrigerators used in a pharmacy. The medicine and drugs stored in the fridge needs to be kept below the specified temperature. There are 2 different types of medicines in 2 different refrigerators which must be kept at different temperatures, 15 degrees and 20 degrees.
If the temperature of the refrigerator rises above the alarm setpoint, the maintenance staff must be notified by SMS so that they can attend to the fault.

Equipment Used
  1. CP9000 Comfort Alarm system with 8 zones
  2. KP04-WI
  3. TSM01
The CP9000 is installed as an alarm system for the pharmacy as well as for monitoring the temperature. Magnetic contacts are installed on the 2 external doors and windows and PIRs are installed in the main reception and store room. A KP04 keypad is used to arm and disarm the system.

The refrigerators used are an industrial brand manufactured for this type of application. It has a temperature readout and setpoint setting which can be adjusted. A TSM01 is mounted  next to  the fridge with the external thermistor placed inside the fridge. The TSM01 temperature can be adjusted using the Calibration Offset parameter so that it shows the same reading as the refrigerator it is monitoring.
Connect the 2 TSMs to Comfort. Signals 12V, COM, KA, KB
By default, both TSMs have the same ID of 1. Set the ID of one of the TSMs to 2 by pressing the buttons to get into setup mode as shown in the TSM Manual.

In Comfigurator, go to the Modules Tab and Scan for Modules to discover the Keypad and TSMs

The TSM ID1 Properties are shown above

For TSM 1, setpoint is mapped to Counter 11 and Temperature is mapped to Sensor 5

For TSM 2, setpoint is mapped to Counter 2 and Temperature is mapped to Sensor 7
The assignments of Counter and Sensor numbers are arbitrary - any unused registers can be assigned.
Changing the setpoint by pressing the Up/Down buttons on a TSM will change the mapped Counter Value. Conversely, changing the counter values in Comfort will change the setpoint of the TSM mapped to the counter so that the setpoint can be assigned by program instead of manually.
The Mapped Sensor has the current updated temperature from TSM in degrees C

Both TSMs are set to Cooling Mode

In the screenshot below (with yellow highlight), Hysteresis is set to 2 degrees.
Virtual Input Alarm Offset is 0 degrees, ie the Temperature setpoint is the same as Temperature setpoint. Hence changing the setpoint is the same as changing the temperature alarm setpoint. It is possible to have an offset, ie temperature alarm higher than temperature setpoint.
Calibration Offset is set to 1 degree. That means TSM will adjust its temperature reading by 1 degree to align with the temperature reading on the refrigerator temperature display.
On/Off control of Virtual Input set to 1 (ON ) means that the On/Off button of the TSM also controls the virtual Input function. If the On/Off function is turned off, the Virtual Input is disabled. In most cases this should be OFF so that the TSM virtual Input cannnot be disabled.

Each TSM Alarm is mapped to a Virtual Input.
For example, TSM 1 is mapped to Input 32, TSM2 is mapped to Input 31.

The Input used is arbitrary, as long as it is not used as a physical Input. The virtual zone can be on a Slave which is not even connected.
Zones 31 and 32 programming are shown below

The Zone type TempNO is assigned to the TSM virtual Zones
This standard zone type is 24 hours ie immediate in all security modes, and triggers the Alarm Type Temperature

The dial out box can select any combination of the 8 phone numbers.

The screenshot below is an example of SMS message sent by  Comfort  when the virtual Input is turned on (alarm activated) and off (alarm Restored)

The Zone Restore notification is enabled if the Restore bit in the Zone settings is checked
