I generaly use the etho IR receiver to get the codes from the remotes surely this should save you a lot of agro, also some keypads have IR reciever that will read codes and store them, I have set up my own similar equipment so that one comand sets it all up. However I am waiting to see when Cytech bring out their UCM for voice control via echo ect to trigger responses esp IR responses.
