Ok, thanks. I'll have to think about that a little more then and see if I can make that work for my scenario.
I guess in the worst case I could have a proxy 'client' (e.g. Raspberry Pi) with a permanent TCP socket connection to the Comfort 'server' (UCM/Eth) and the client just sits there waiting to hear anything from Comfort and then based on whatever simple TCP message comfort sends it (in response) then it can iniate a more complex network action like an HTTP request, twitter post, etc - e.g. SEND RS232 UCM01 'A' = would mean initiate complex action 1, 'B' would be for action 2, etc.
