The nice thing with MQTT is it opens up everything for you... Home Assistant instead of HS3 as an example if you eve decided to move / upgrade (I used to use HS2 and Home Assistant has a fairly steep learning curve but is far superior).

Plus if you use MQTT then you could start using the new dedicated UCM that is about to launch. With the script as a first step then step 2 replace is with the dedicated UCM.
