I've just replaced my UCM 4.101 with a UCM 05 but find that it is not communicating intelligably with ACE server. Messages are being transmitted, but they don't seem to be read by ACE, which leads me to think that the format may be different. Is this so? The format expected by ACE is along the lines of C:IP-06-1 which would mean input change, zone 6, high.

The protocol has not changed from UCM01 to UCM05. The UCM05 may have additonal commands and messages but it should not affect teh communications with Ace
See if you can find out which messages are cauing the problem

I have now tracked down the messages which are problematic:
I am expecting the following messages from Comfort:
MD-1 security set to away mode
MD-0 Disarm
MD-4 Vacation mode
MD-2 Night mode.
Instead of these I am getting:
Night on Night off Away mode Away mode off Vacation on Vacation off SM000140  MD0001  SM000140  AM1301  SM000140  AM1301  SM000140  AM0881  SM000140  AL0A  SM000000  AL0A  SM000000  AL11  SM000000  KL02000000  SM000140  KL02000000  MD025A  KL00010000  SM000000  KL02000000  SM000140  KL02000000  AM095A  KL00010000  IP0201  SM000140  MD045A  SM000140  AL13  SM000140  SM000140  MD0001  AM095A  MD0001  KL0100  SM000000  SM000140  AM0881  AL13  AM0881  KL0100

Are these responses documented anywhere? If so I should be able to write a script specifically for my needs.

Sorry, that doesn't look readable! I have attached the responses I'm getting in a pdf file.

Attachment: Schedule.pdf (Downloaded 4 times)

I think I've answered my own question now. I have found the serial interface protocol pdf, all I need to do now is change by expected responses to comply with that. I'm assuming that the dash character is inserted by ACE, so I shouild be able to get around that.

That is correct. Ace Comfort was written very long ago so it does not know about the later messages which have been added
