Note: If the Comfort Firmware is version 5.xxx you need to use the UCM programming cable to upgrade the firmware as described here. If the Comfort firmware is version 6 and above, you do not need the UCM programming cable - the firmware can be upgraded via Comfigurator as described in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum92/3400.html Instructions for Upgrading Comfort Firmware using the UCM/232, UCM/Ethernet or UCM/USB using the Programming Cable This procedure shows how to upgrade Comfort firmware. For instructions on how to upgrade firmware of another UCM or Slave see http://www.comfortforums.com/view_topic.php?id=1782&forum_id=4&jump_to=7048#p7048 Please note that a module can be upgraded with firmware of the same type. For example, Comfort Ii Ultra can only be upgraded with Comfort II Ultra firmware, Slave SEM can only be upgraded with Slave firmware. UCM/232, USB and Ethernet share the same firmware. UCM/KNX, UCM/Cbus have their own different firmware types. Each module can be upgraded with the same type of firmware eg UCM/KNX firmware cannot be upgraded to UCM/Cbus or UCM/232, USB or Ethernet. UCM 5.178 and above is needed to do the upgrade. Lower versions may cause the firmware to be corrupted

A photo of upgrading of Comfort using the UCM/USB is shown. Note that in Comfort, the PP2 shunt should be inserted during the upgrade The white RS485 cable connects the UCM to Comfort (which is needed for normal operation). Hence there should be two cables connecting the UCM to Comfort A short video can be seen here https://www.youtube.com/edit?video_id=yvaNE9s9YZ8&video_referrer=watch Attachment: CIMG0273 small.jpg (Downloaded 928 times) Last edited on Tuesday Dec 19th, 2017 05:36 pm by slychiu |

The picture shows Upgrading of a UCM/Cbus using UCM/USB When the programming cable is connected to the UCM/Cbus, and the PP2 shunt inserted on the UCM/Cbus, its D9 and D10 leds will flash in time with that on the UCM doing the programming The UCM/CBUS should not be connected to Comfort at this time Attachment: CIMG0302 small.jpg (Downloaded 879 times) Last edited on Tuesday May 1st, 2012 01:12 pm by |

I Want to Upgrade the firmware on Comfort Comfort II Ultra 5.169 File system 34 Vocab version 29 to the latest version (Im having trouble with Fermax/DMO1 volume levels) The USB UCM has a firmware version of 5.156, but I see in your notes that the minimum version for my UCM should be 5.178 to upgrade to this latest Comfort ULT5.124. Does this mean my USB UCM needs replacing, in order to perform the upgrade? |

No, your UCM needs to be upgraded to the latest firmware which allows it to be used to upgrade Comfort, Slaves and other UCMs. At present this requires another UCM to upgrade a UCM, ie a UCM cannot upgrade itself. You can look for a friend who has a UCM with firmware at least 5.178 so you can upgrade each others UCM, or ask a the distributor who sold the UCM is they can do it The new UCM firmware 6.xxx can upgrade itself without using the Programming cable. You need another UCM to do the initial upgrade to firmware version 6 but once this is done, the UCM can be self upgrading Last edited on Tuesday Sep 27th, 2011 01:28 pm by ident |

If the Firmware Upgrade fails for any reason, the Comfort Firmware will be corrupted. It will not start and keypads and door stations will beep Do not panic You can use this method again to upgrade the firmware and get the system operational Follow the same instructions. In Comfigurator, DO NOT LOG IN or do Transfer Information or any other function because there will be NO RESPONSE due to firmware being Corrupted Go directly to Transfer > Firmware Upgrade and select "By Programming cable Connected to UCM" |
