one of our clients had 2 Dome installed in his apartment, when we started to learned the Remote for TV simple couldn't, so i have to go down to check out, i think i will start with Firmware upgrade but i was wondering , you wrote in previous topic
"The UCM/IR has a IR learning facility which is launched from Comfigurator > Tools. Not all IR signals can be learned, while some IR signals can be captured but not encoded, or can be encoded but may not work. In such cases there is a RAW file format which can be sent to us by email for analysis."
so my Q is how we will advise clients a solution that might not work, is there any definite solution for that ?
thanks

No IR learning system can learn every IR signal, there are always some that are very unusual in frequency or length of signal. This is the same with Pronto, Crestron and othr IR learners.
Comfort IR learning is better than most. Like the message says if it fails to learn, send the RAW file for analysis. Sometimes it needs to be hand-coded

I thought you could not learn the IR signal, but you have sent the IFR file which means that you could learn the signal.
What actually is the problem, could not learn the signal or the signal could not work? If signal could not work this could be due to wiring, revese polarity, wrong programming and many things.

That screen shows the IR Learner has succeeded in learning the IR Codes, so it is not that the IR learner cannot learn the signal
You have not said what the problem is, can the IR code work in controlling the device or not., If not then you need to checck the things that I mentioned in the previous post, connections programming etc

The message that the signal needs 30 bytes is for information, it is NOT an error message It was learned successfully
You need to check what I said about wiring, programming etc to see why you cannot control the device
Send your clx file to support@cytech.biz as well

first thanks for fastest reply and helpful response and info., as we always used and expect for CYTECH "Good Customers/partners support".
secondly i need to clarify the encoding button, what is it for ,is it just informative codes that we could use it at else where devices or we have to encode the signal in order to store it, and what does it mean "the signal needs xx byte" (xx=40~30).
thanks in advance for your reply

Apologies for my poor explanation
The IR data is saved as an .IFR file in the IFR library in Comfigurator. This is an encoded file, so the Encoding function is needed to convert it from the raw format to the ifr format
The message the the code needs x bytes means that the encoded file requires this number of bytes. This may be useful because the number of IR codes selected in the IR Transmit Codes in Configuration. Each code has a "bytes" property which is the number of encoded bytes needed. Hence if you have a lot of IR codes the number of bytes may exceed the limit allowed in Comfort.
Hence in IR Learner is you have a messgae that the signal has been encoded and it needs a number of bytes it means it has been successful
The next step is to select the new IR signal in IR transmit codes to be used. Then make a new action of send the IR Code to an output.
Have you managed to send an IR signal successfully before or is this your first attempt?
I hope this is clearer. We should have a tutorail on this

thanx for ur support and fast reply , i learn the ir codes but there is problem the air condition is switched on from the system but not switched off and i tried to learned the OFF code again many times but it is still the same and didn't switch off the air condition,
by the way, the air condition is Carrier Xpression .
what should i do? Last edited on Tuesday Sep 14th, 2010 12:01 pm by engmoabel

Are you sure that is the Off code that you are learning? Is there a beep sound on the receiver when the Off signal is sent?
Can you check that the Off code was sent to the IR Transmitter? You can use your phone camera to see the IR signal as you are transmitting it. IR signals can usually be seen from a camera viewer
You can also Learn the transmitted code and compare it with the learned code to see if there are any differences
Send us the IFR file and the Raw code. The raw code is saved using a button onn the Learner software page

Hi,
We have taken a look at the IFR file and the raw code; both look okay.
Please provide us with more information by answering the question posted by slychiu earlier.
Is there a beep sound on the air conditioner when the OFF code is sent from Comfort?
Also, can you send the cclx file to support@cytech.biz so we can see if there are problems in configuration file? How does the OFF code get triggered? From Control Menu or somewhere else?

From your cclx file I can see there are two air conditioners.
And you control them from remote control (RC01) room 1 and room 3, function 3 (for off) and function 4 (on).
Is this the way you control the air-conds?
If this is the case then I see no problem to it.
One possibility is that the air-cond off responses are not written to Comfort for one reason or another.
Can you do a full Write (PC --> Comfort) again?
Test the air-cond's on / off responses again afterward.
