Expansion Modules include
  • Local Expansion Modules - These are connected directly to the main Comfort Controller PCB, or Slave Expansion Module (SEM) PCB by means of a ribbon cable. They are mounted in the same metal enclosure as the Comfort or Slave, and can be mounted on top of the Comfort or SEM PCB itself. Local Expansion Modules can be LEM01 with 8 Inputs and 8 Outputs, or LEM02 with 8 inputs, 0 outputs, or LEM03 with 16 Inputs, 0 outputs. The LEM03 can be connected to the last Slave (SEM) in the system, or to Comfort, if there are no Slaves connected  This is applicable from Slave Firmware 7.118 see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum78/4562.html

Local Expansion Modules are explained in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum91/2069.html
  • Slave Expansion Modules - Each Slave has 8 inputs and 8 outputs, and can have 1 LEM connected to it with 8 inputs and 8 outputs. There can be up to 3 Slaves in a System. SEM means Slave PCB Modules, SEP01 is  Slave Expansion Panel with Enclosure and Transformer.

SEM01C PCB is shown.

  • Each Slave Expansion Module can have its own Local Expansion Module directly connected to it (either LEM01 or LEM02).
Hence 3 SEMs with 3 LEMs can have 48 inputs and 48 outputs. Comfort and its LEM01 has 16 Inputs and Outputs Total of 64 inputs and 64 outputs in a system. RIOs (see below) allow more inputs and outputs to be added

  • Remote Input/Output Modules (RIO01) - These have 8 inputs and 8 outputs, bit the inputs cannot be used for Alarm Inputs. There can be 15 RIOs in a system. There is a separate RIO Forum at http://www.comfortforums.com/forum84/

The above information is for CM9000 expansion Modules.
For CM9001 Local expansion modules go to http://www.comfortforums.com/forum140/5092.html
For the new SEM01C see http://www.comfortforums.com/forum140/5094.html
