Comfort's UCM/CBUS2 supports the C-Bus Security Application. This allows the touchscreen to show Alarm and Trouble conditions and Zone Status, as well as allowing a virtual keypad on a page to arm and disarm the security system, just like a real keypad.
The UCM/CBUS2 manual can be downloaded from http://www.cytech.biz/product_details.php?item_id=411
The same link also has a zipped archive containing the sample C-Touch file comfort.ctd and associated images used in the program,
Some screenshots of a typical design are shown below;
This sample home page has links to other pages, and also has icons on the bottom of the screen from left, for Low Battery, Armed/Disarmed state, Alarm State, Tamper, and Power Failure.
The rest of the screen shots will be shown without the faceplate
This is an onscreen keypad to allow arming and disarming. Arm to Away, Night, Day and Vacation mode using one touch keys. Entry and Exit delay and Arm Ready icons show arming status.
Zone Status, ie real time state of doors and windows can be shown, so that you can check your doors and windows from any touchscreen. You can program more than 1 page to monitor a larger house.
A Panic button can immediately trigger an alarm
Trouble conditions can be shown on a separate page.
Evene without its other features, Comfort is the best alarm system which works with C-Bus. Why settle for a stand-alone alarm system?

If this were to replace a KP04, for example, how would you handle audio feedback (speaker) ?

The keypad will be without audio. The # key (0C in hex) can be replaced by the ENTER Key (1A in hex). Entering a code with the # key may cause Comfort to go to voice menu. Entering a code with the ENTER key does not cause Comfort to go go v oice menu. so the code is used to disarm tthe security system only.
In the next UCM/Cbus firmware, you will be able to attach the AUD01 module on top of the UCM/Cbus and connect the mic and speaker jacks to a separate amplifier and Microphone, mounted externally so that the voice on the keypad can be heard just like a real keypad. In that case you leave the # key as it is. That would allow you to answer the door station using the Ctouch

Be useful if you could recommend a suitable external speaker, or even re-use an existing or older Comfort unit/housing

I dont know the Clipsal parts numbers. They should all work, Clipsal Touchscreen Mk 2, B&W and colour.
The KP04 should work with the voice and mic connected to Audio in and out.
