Hi,

I have just installed the RGR Ringer module and cannot get a dial tone. I have installed the module correctly. I only have one phone connected in the entire house. Comfort get its line in from an extension cable from the main BT in line. I have connect the only phone directly to the line out with a cable only 1 metre long.

I am sure this is something simple I have missed. In the extension cable I have used the red and green strands (only 2 from the 4 available) I think these used to be the blue/white and the white/blue strands.

Has anyone got any ideas? Why not have 2 RJ11 connectors on the comfort PCB to make things easier?
Thanks

The RGR module does not affect the dial tone - it just applies a ringing voltage to  the local phones

The problem must be due to a wrong wiring connection

Measure the voltage at TEL IN. t should be 45 to 50V DC

Switch off power and battery to Comfort. This connects the TEL IN to TEL Out directly. If you do not get a dial tone, either the TEL IN/TEL OUT connection is wrong or the TEL IN is not connected to the telephone line

We do not put in RJ11 sockets on the board because terminal blocks are easier for installation purposes and is more reliable. Crimping telephone jacks and sockets are additional points of failure, and also tend to corrode and have intermittent connections
