The procedure for upgrading Comfort controller or other modules using the UCM Programming cable is illustrated in http://www.comfortforums.com/forum4/1216.html along with pictures. Please read this topic before continuing.
Most problems with doing this upgrade are due to incorrect connection of the programmming cable.
The end of the cable with two connectors with 4 wires (PP1) and 2 wires (PP3) must be connected to the UCM doing the upgrading, and the end with just the 6 way connector must be plugged into the module to be upgraded. Many users connect it the other way or loop back the 6 way connector to the UCM end.
The PP2 header must be shunted during the upgrade
The correct connection for upgrading Comfort is shown below
Another point is that the upgrade cannot be done with Comfort connected to a battery alone, without an AC input, as may be the case in a new house where the power supply has not been turned on. You need to have the AC connected as well. The battery need not be connected
