I have just installed a UCM/ETH02. I have used the TIBBO DS Manager to se the IP address and saved. I run comfigurator and login but if I try to read andthing from comfort I cannot and tells me the UCM has failed to connect. If i try to log in again I cannot. If i leave it a while it starts the process above again. Also gices codes that I don't reconise, see attached. Any ideas

Have you set the connection to the same IP address and port
In Options > Settings
UCM Connection should be NETWORK
IP address and PORT should be entered according to the DS Manager settings

using Comfigurator 3.3.1, does this matter and yes the UCM and the systems are the same IP and port.

On the UCM, check LEDs D9 (red) and D10 (green)
Both of them should be blinking if the UCM is communicating with Comfort

D9 Red and D10 Green both on and blinking. Also why do i need the multi coloured programming cable connected all the time. I installed the UCM and it said it was only to be used for upgrading but the UCM will not power without it.

You should not have the programming cable connected at all unless for programming

You need to connect the white RS485 cable between the UCM and Comfort to provide power and communications

Also just noticed if i log in and go to system information there is no detail supplied see attached. Is there a problem with my cabling as I am using a normal patch lead should it be a crossover cable?

System information cannot be obtained if you cannot get information from the UCM

It looks like you have a problem in the connections
Can you send a photo of the connections between the UCM and Comfort to support@cytech.biz

If you need the program cable connected you still have some sort of a connection problem which is not clear from the photo that you send

The Ethernet IP address must be the same as the one set in DS Manager, otherwise it would not work

The UCM type is General. However the uCM and other modules can be discovered by using the Scan Modules button in the Modules Tab

Hi, I have tried connecting a different white cable, tried connecting to GSM first then ETH but still the same, need program cable. As for the IP Address it was set to 192.168.1.76 in both places but when i connected it dropped the connection after you tried to do something but when I changed it to 20 it works OK. I will take some more photos of the connection and forwaed to you later.

If your host address works on 20 but not 76 then presumably DS Manager should have changed also to 20? Sounds like you are usind DHCP then for your UCM (ie see a screenshot from my UCM settings in DS Manager)?

If this is the same for you then IMHO may be best to use a static IP address for your UCM and in whatever you use as your DHCP server (presumably your router) then add this address to the pool address reservation list so that only the Comfort UCM can lease this address.

Hi Julian, Yes both DS Client and Comfort were set to 76 but I had login problems, reset to 20 and it seems to have cured the problem. I have been told that any address above 70 is used for a DHCP range from my BT Router and if possible keep below this. Probably why it is now working but useful to know.

There is a fundamental problem in having a different IP address for DS Manager and Comfigurator. It cannot work if set up properly. Connecting the Programming cable prevents the device connected from working.
Do you have only 1 UCM?

What is the prograjming cable connected to?

Can you remove the LEM from Comfort so it does not block the white cable in the photo which you sent (shown below)

Can you also take a photo of how the Programming cable is connected

Hi, My IP address problem no one seems to have grasped but I believe I have it sorted. Both IP addresses are set the same in DS Manager and Comfigurator. The program cable is connected fron the comfort main panel to the UCM. I have the white cable connected from Comfort (RS485) to UCM/ETH02 (JP2) and then to UCM/GSM. I will forward photos of cabling shortly. 2 UCM's installed (eth02 & gsm2).

The cables seem to be correct
I think there is a problem with the 4 way headers, so the 4 way cable between UCM and Comfort are not working

Instead of using the programming cable or the 4 way cable, connect wires from the Comfort 12V/COM KA/KB terminal blocks to the UCM 12V/COM KA/KB terminal block
This should give a better connection

Hi, Thanks for that. Do I just use Cat5 cable between these or do I need something else. Also is the a diagram of how tis is done as I don't want to mess anything else up.

Use CAT 5 cable
There is no special diagram needed
just KA to KA KB to KB, 12V to 12V, COM to COM
Use  pairs for KA/KB and for 12V/GND

What is the firmware version of the UCM/GSM that you are trying to upgrade with the file GSM 6.005 and how are you doing that, with the programming cable or the method of Upgrading by Comfort Bus?

Upgrading by Comfort Bus is only possible if the module is already version 6
If the module is version 5, then you have to use the programming cable

I am going to close this topic called "UCM/Ethernet Fails to Connect" so that it does not become too long and filled with different issues and be difficult for others to follow
