At the moment I have done nothing at all with the door phone - all it does is ring the internal phones (I dont even have it dial out to my mobile).

Before I go ahead and get creative I just wondered what everyone else does - to get some inspiration!!

One of the things I was thinking was to stop the internal phones rining if the gate opens (sometimes I just look out of the window and can see its a driver and open the gates (plus I get terrible sound quality))

Anyone else do anything cool I should consider building in.

Stuart

You can use a Response with the action Stop Ringer assigned to the Gate (if the gate has a magnetic contact, or if you have some way of knowing when the gate is opened)

You can trigger a ReMinder message assigned to the Doorbell Response so that a welcome message is played. You can also turn on an exterior light also done by the Doorbell Response

Ok here is what I do.

1. If the DB is pressed I check to see if it's after sunset and if the Entrance Hall lights are on. If so then I save the level, usually 75%

2. I then switch the Porch lights on between 1-7s from the time the DB was pressed as well as ramp the Entrance Hall lights to 100%. If the Front door wasn't opened and closed I then turn the lights off between 2-3mins and restore the Entrance Hall lights to their previous setting.

3. While all this is happening and I am not at home the DB will connect to my mobile phone so I can talk to the guest.

4. If I am at home and the Front door did Open then I stop the timer that would otherwise switch the lights off and wait for the door to close again. This way the door can be open and I can have a chat by the door if need be without the lights going off.

5. If I let my guest in and close the door then the Porch light will switch off as per normal.

Todo:

When the guest leaves then I just need to switch the Porch light on when I open the door and have the normal process above continue from there. It should be fairly easy to do.

I must admit that most of my programming is done in the CBus PAC but all the triggers come from Comfort. I am sure you would be able to get something similar going but maybe not with the random timers I used.

Enjoy.

One thing to be aware of :

If you set your doorphone to dial out to the mobile phone, and you don't answer (or are out of range) then the caller at your gate will hear your voicemail message.

I use my mobile phone for work, and my voicemail is usually very prescriptive on my whereabouts and when I will be available. Not good for random house callers to hear! I have disabled the dial out to my mobile for this reason, but would very much like to use this facility.

I would really like a feature in Comfort to not connect my mobile phone to the doorphone until I confirm with a phone keypad press (e.g, #).

-------------------------

One thing I have done with my gate is to wire the gate IR sensor as a zone on Comfort. If anyone stands outside my gate, they break the IR beam and Comfort announces "Gate Movement" and turns on the exterior lights. It's not perfect as falling leaves can break the bream, so I am thinking of enhancing so that Comfort requires 2 beam breaks within one minute to react to the event.

Good luck customising Comfort for your gate set up!
