Comfort is the only home automation and security system which can be connected to C-Bus (by Schneider) and KNX at the same time using UCM/Cbus and UCM/KNX.

Cytechs  new Cbus to KNX translator CBUSKNX01 is gateway between a C-Bus and a KNX network allowing the two widely used and competing automation busses to be installed in the same system when a Comfort controller and alarm is not required.

This is a stand-alone PCB module (it does not need Comfort) with the same size as a UCM, ie 108 x 88 mm

It comes with terminal blocks for connection to KNX and C-Bus and a USB interface. Power is supplied by a wallmount adaptor.

The product allows C-Bus switches to control KNX actuators and dimmers and vice versa.

The free Bus Translator Configurator software allows C-Bus group addresses to be mapped to KNX group addresses and vice versa

The following C-Bus Applications are supported

  • Lighting
  • Trigger
  • Clocks and Timekeeping
  • Security
  • Zones
  • Custom Application
The following KNX telegrams are supported

  • 1 bit (on/off)
  • 4 bit (relative dimming)
  • 1 byte (scaling)
  • 2 bytes (Floating point)
  • Time
  • Date
Please note that the 2 bytes floating point telegram type can result in values that are not within the 1 byte limitation of Cbus, ie if the resulting value is > 255 then this value cannot be mapped to any Cbus group address

Up to 256 group addresses can be mapped on each bus to the other.

Major Application Examples
  1. Allows some specialised components eg large capacity C-Bus dimmers to be used in an KNX installation.
  2. C-Bus Switches can be used with KNX relays and actuators on the back end and vice versa depending on user or installer preferences.
  3. Schneider's Wiser Home Control gateway can be used to control a KNX system.

In order to connect to the Cbus to KNX module, you must select the USB. Go to Options > Settings, and select the USB serial number as shown. Press Scan for USB Devices and make sure you can see the USB serial number in the dropdown window
