CBus and Comfort have been playing nicely through the CBus UCM for years.

Last night, we noticed that when a CBus switch was activated, it took Comfort 20+ seconds to respond rather than being instant.

This morning, having changed nothing, everything is back to normal - Comfort reacts as soon as a switch is pressed.

Tonight, still having changed nothing, the 20+ second delays are back again.  I've tried a system reset and it's still misbehaving.

What can it be?

What is the Comfort and UCM/Cbus firmware and the SIM module marking?
Nothing was upgraded or changed in Comfort or cbus?

Good news - it seems to be behaving at the moment. I've reviewed the event log from yesterday, and there's nothing odd there.

Comfort is Ultra 4.206, File system 24, Vocabulary 2.
Ethernet UCM is Type 10, Version 5.063
Cbus UCM is Version 5.66

I have just pressed both UCM reset buttons......

I've had this issue over the years. Comfort goes into meltdown for a while.

Guys,

The symptoms have changed somewhat.

I am now periodically getting a Communications Failure alert on UCM2 (according to the event log).  It only lasts for a few seconds and then goes away again.

Not sure what would cause that?

I'm also very rusty having not changed the programming for two years.  Is it easy to tell which UCM is number 2?  Is it going to be the CBus UCM or the Ethernet UCM?

Thanks for any pointers.

Nick

Most likely the CBUS will be UCM 2

I think it may be time for an upgrade...

Not only is the hard ware out of date as is the firmware but you will be using the old comfigurator.ccl files.

There are a number of things that you can do.
- Reload the last software you uploaded (if you still have a copy)use Comfigurator 3.4.4
- Check the connections the CBUS UCM - Have you used CBUS cable to get back to the CBUS bus? does the cable travel next to any mains cables.
- What type of light fittings does the CBUS have after a while mains transformers degrade and the capacitive value alters. This can cause interference on the CBus bus (YES IT CAN)so try carrying out the operation with all CBUS light fully on and then fully off. A yes Palmlodge this nay be your problem as well - do you have mains downlighters?

I have more but that will do for now !

Thanks for the response.

Nothing has changed in the infrastructure - and no transformer/downlighters.

It has turned out to be a really easy fix.  New batteries in the main panel and in the satellite panel where the CBUS UCM sits.

No more problem!

Cheers

It's looking hopeful.

Two weeks of new batteries and no communications failures.

Before the battery change, it was happening two or three times every day.
