Has anyone installed any of these before?

http://www.vesternet.com/z-wave-fibaro

I've just bought a couple to try out in my ZWave setup to retrofit behind some double switches during my kitchen refit.

I purchased the FGS221 double relay switch as I just need basic on/off of light tracks rather than dimming etc.

Would be good to hear of anyone else's experiences.

Jabber on the NET seems to suggest they are pretty good units?

One word... "Impressive"

I wanted to use in double switches (I use MK Logic as the legacy switch) as the ACT ZWave switches I'd used to date are generally single only. They do ACT 2 button but second button is for "fly-by-wave" association only and not directly switching the circuit.

I'm not interested in dimming for these lights so used the 2x1.5KW switches from Fibraro. I haven't tried the dimming ones (they are singles) but that's next on my list.

I mounted these in 47mm deep single back boxes and even on one treble switch setup (2 internal lights switched by Fibraro relay, plus one switch for external PIR light) it all fitted OK (just) behind the switch and amongst the spaghetti of wires. I'm using 3-wire (i.e. including neutral) and it works well.

No problems at all. If these had been around when I started I would have saved myself much of the pain I've had with the ACT switches which are frankly cr*p in comparison. Shame as I'm £500 into investment in the ACT ones yet as cant justify ditching them for Fibraro replacements just yet.

Would recommend these Fibraro units.

Hi.

I am just trying to set a fibaro 2 x 1.5w module up but am having trouble getting one of the switches to work.

I am using aeon labs z-stick 2 as my main controler and uploading this to comfort it has included a power switch binary which will only turn one light on and off.

Any ideas what is wrong?

What do you see in comfort? one or two devices?

Cheers

Lee

It could be one of the Fibaro switch is not successfully included into the Aeon Labs Zwave network?

You should see all 3 devices (1 Aeon Labs + 2 Fibaro switches) inside Comfort's Z-wave Mapping tab.
Plus UCM/Zwave then you should be seeing 4 devices in total.

Hi Hendy,

I have downloaded the homeseeres software demo and when I setup the aeon labs to work I can see both fibaro modules I have included and 2 switchs on each.

I can control the either module and both switches so 4 lights in total.

When I update the z-wave ucm in comfort it only pulls in one switch on each module.

Therefore, I can only assume that the problem is with comfort import.

Any Suggestions?

Best Regards

Lee

If I understand correctly you have 2 switch modules with 2 gangs / channels on each switch?

Did you powered the switches when doing Learning from UCM/Zwave?

Do you see "Multichannel" as the node type for the module? See the screenshot 2-channel example in UCM/Zwave3 manual page 19.

Hi Hendy

I think you have understood the situation well.

39 and 44 is what has been added plus all the static controllers 24,29,31,45

I have removed the z-wave ucm from the aeon labs network and reset the ucm and the added again.

I have removed the fabiro modules from the network and re-added

If I turn on 39 & 44 in comfort they switch on switch one of the retrospective modual.

Comfort firmware 7.027

Z-Wave Ucm firmware 6.024

Cheers

Lee

I think the on/off test in Comfigurator only turns on/off Channel 1.

You can turn off other channel via response though as per normal operations.

Hi Lee,

are you turning on/off the switch through Comfigurator's Switch Device On/Off buttons?
If yes, then what Julian said is correct that the Zwave's on/off buttons in Comfigurator are for test purpose (to identify a node) and will only turn on/off first channel of a module.

Hi Hendy,

Yes I am turning on / off in the modules tab - ucm2 - z-wave mapping - on / off.

Do I need to control switch 2 on fibaro vai programming then?

Regards

Lee

Hi,

Can I ask which primary controller you used? I have an aeon labs z-stick 2 and I only get a basic node.

If I use UCM fiware 6.23 I can control both switches but if I upgrade to the latest UCM firmware (7.xx) I am unable to control both Fibaro switches switch one is ok but switch 2 just doesn't work.

I am running my z-wave UCM at 6.23, but I am getting random on's from z-wave modules. I have looked at my code and can't seem much wrong so suspect its a z-wave network thing.

Any thoughts... Especially around the primary controller as I have just purchased 3 danfoss z-wave trv and want comfort to manage the temperature points

Best Regards

Lee

Have you got any danfoss z-wave thermostates?

Cheers

Nope. Boring old TRV's for me at the moment.

Next project is to rip out my old Smartfit boiler control (as my UCM/Smartfit is from the dark ages) and replace with the Heatmiser setup and new UCM/HM-Eth.

I just use ZWave for lights at the moment.
