I am using CBUS as my main lighting platform. When Cytech introduced the UCM/Zwave, I decided to go that route for all the non-wired lights (like side-lamps) and a door locks.

All works well, CBUS interacting with Comfort, and Comfort with Zwave.

I started playing with the idea of CBUS as a lighting platform interacting with Zwave as another lighting platform. Meaning having a group address attached to a counter which is attached to a Zwave light. Control being on both platforms, CBUS and Zwave, and Comfort being a middle man (with no control). I believe this was not the design intent. The intend was for either, and not both. It would be cool though, if this was done.

If you have a counter that is mapped to both Zwave and Cbus, then changing the value of the counter will send commands to both systems

Or if you have Zwave as a sender mapped to a counter which is also mapped to C-Bus then that will send a command from zwave to CBus

Is that what you have in mind?

If you have both Cbus and Zwave mapped to the same counter, when Cbus changes the counter, send a command to Zwave, and visa versa.

That is correct

I had tried the dual mapping, and from the Cbus logs saw that the GA was continuously switched ON and OFF from comfort in the early mornings between 0200 and 0500.

Not sure if this was indeed Comfort or Zwave.

Try disabling the Zwave from the counter and see if that still occurs

The issue stops occurring once it is removed from Z-wave.

There must be some zwave commands getting sent to Comfort which triggers the cbus

Control from Zwave is via a physical on/off switch which is in a room that ir usually armed around the time that the issue occur. Nothing else controls that unit.

use the IO Monitor to capture the CT commands (Counter update)
This may give a clue on what is causing this
In the Counter, right click and select Check References to see what events are triggerng the counter
The counter can only be changed by Cbus, Zwave, other ucms which are mapped to the same counter, or a Response. It cannot turn on without any cmmand to it

The Object Matrix in my latest ComfortClient version may be of help here as you can monitor the situation over a period and then just output the history for the selected counters.

I have noticed a similar "counter flicker" with one of my ZWave responses when testing the Object Matrix.  I have a door sensor and PIR that, at night, the light is meant to turn on when somebody enters from outside.  The response works fine but I think it creates a lot of counter updates for some reason which I've yet to debug myself.

Anyway just a thought.

Julian

There are no responses or any other references to this counter except Zwave.

Hi Howser
Is this issue resolved? Does it happen again?

I have been logging activity on Zwave side (with NO CBUS mapping) and I could not reproduce the issue.

I will re-map CBUS and see if that makes any difference.

It is still occurring. When it does, the GA is turned ON and then OFF a couple of times (from CBUS it looks like Comfort is doing it). Most of the time, ON is immediately followed by OFF.

To determine the cause of this, we need the Bus Monitor
This will show what causes the counters (or flags ) to switch on or off

The Bus monitor log shows the the UCM/Zwave  (UCM ID 4)  is triggering the Counters 100 and 253 from a multichannel device. The counters 100  is mapped to your cbus Family Room side lamp, while 253 is not mapped to any Cbus group

You wil have to investigate why the zwave channels are triggered  from the Zwave device

I investigated the Zwave side and looking at the logs (attached), I can see the node being polled, but nothing purely switching the node ON and OFF.
