Have you upgraded to Velbus 7.054? This allows you to learn unsupported modules

The GP modules are not currently supported

I am looking for an underfloor heating control system for my new house build and like the Heatmiser solution but could I use the temperature sensor in the Velbus VMBGP touch module and it it possible to integrate these with the Heatmiser thermostats?
I currently have an Ultra II with the RS485 Heatmiser UCM in anticipation.

The UCM/Velbus currently does not support the VMBGP. We do not have this new module and Velleman do not reply to our questions latey

Why not use the temperature sensor in Heatmiser as that can be mapped to sensors?

I was hoping to reduce the number of things on the walls and I like the Velbus switches and was hoping to combine the two functions.
Perhaps I will have to use the Heatmiser stats.

I guess some of the old staff who worked with us may have left, and the new people may not know about the integration with Comfort.

Hi, hopefully 4 years on there has been some positive orogress in adding support for these Velbus modules? The glass modules are now a key part of the Velbus system and the large Comfort + Velbus installation I am planning may need to be reconsidered if these devices are not supported. Fingers crossed!

In the event the Velbus glass push button modules are not supported, are there any other push button modules that could be used as an alternative for controlling light switches (e.g. Niko, zwave, other)?

We have not done any further development on Velbus for several years, the reaons being;
  • The Velbus protocol is relatively difficult to support as each device has a diferent profile which requires changes in Comfigurator software and firmware in order to handle
  • They have discontinued many modules that we supported and have replaced it with new models which require different profiles so it has been difficult to keep up.
  • Velleman have not been very keen to support 3rd party integraton after our initial cooperation many years ago which was positive
I had a phone call from the UK importer of Velbus about this matter, and he has suggested ways to go forward with Velbus. We are keen to do it, as we had spent much effort on this interface, so we will be looking at it again.

Hi Chiu, that is good news. I have had velbus working in my comfort setup for a few years now and am very happy with how it performs. They are better priced than cbus and seem to do the same job. Hopefully with any new development we can get a slide bar for dimming the lights :). Maybe velbus are not aware of how many people use velbus with comfort so we could all send a email asking them to please help you guys?

Hi Slychui

Wondering if there was any movement on this, or if there is anyrhing we can do to push it, even if it meant doing some community input/effort into it.

If there was even a way of users adding/providing required data for new modules ?

The reason I ask, is that, I have gone back to looking at my system, and have also recently received a VMBGPOD which is a fantastic unit, and could/should integrate well into comfort.

I also note for example that the VMB4RYNO has an extra virtual relay which is not recognised by comfory and could be really usefull.

I was discussing comfort and velbus recently on another forum, and outlining my system to a poster, who has now gone and installed a very significant/large comfort/velbus system, it is very very impressive, and he also has the VMGBP0D units all over the house, so I am sure not having this functionality to integrate these devices to comfort would be a bit of a problem.

Quick update also, after a bit of playing around tonight, I managed to get a glass panel vmbgpod working with comfort with a bit of amnipulation, adding it manually as a vmb8pb and altering the addresses to correspond with the 4 addresses of the touch panel
